The crossover idea only helped for one reason; It helped Windows One Care 'see' both computers. One Care loaded almost flawlessly onto both machines. It saw the Dell Dimension 3000 hard drives as 'C' and 'D'. Then it 'saw' the Dell Dimension 2350 hard drives as 'E' and 'F'. But then it set the 3000 as a slave to to the 2350. I couldn't get onto the net without the 2350 turned on. Now both computers are loaded with One Care but are stand alone units. I put Lenny back onto the 2350 and the disk took me to the Debian site which was different. The memory problemis gone so I am crossing my fingers. I going to try to load it onto the 2350 unders Windows XP.

Now I am. This one is running without errors. When I put the value select in here it had trouble with 32 bit programs. Now no trouble. The other machine is downloading service pack three just fine. I had these sticks in before I did the upgrade to 512MB pairs. I have 256MB pairs in here now. I wanted to have 1GB on both machines but that will have to wait till later. I learned that the memtest on Lenny is similiar to the other memory tester because they both filled with red. Blue is a good color except the blue screen of death. I suspect Lenny will run on the other machine now that the memory problem is fixed. I want to run it as a dual boot because I want the advantage of network start in case one of the computers goes down and file sharing. I can see that I will have to dual boot both machines with Lenny, later. It has really been a learning experience for me.

Yeah. Well what really made me take notice was when I took the sticks out of the Dell Demension 2350 which were Value Select by Corsair VS512MB400 and put them in the Dell 3000 Demension 3000 that had the Dell sticks. I got the same errors. I put the Dell sticks back in 2350 and put the 256MB pair back in the 3000. Now no errors on either machine. Which makes me know that XP or Lenny neither like the memory sticks because they were bad. The physical memory dump was because my physical ram was bad. I am not saying that Value Select is bad but neither of my Dells like them.

Jesus
Jesus will help you through the rough spots. It is nice to have a friend that you confide anything to and know that he won't put you down. I feel like I can ask Jesus anything and he will give me an answer. He has always been a good friend to me. Especially with honesty which has been a big hurdle for me to make it through with. Just last night I had forgotten to pick up this dirty soaker pad. My friend asked me if I had laid it there. I honesty couldn't remember. In the past I would either try to justify or rationalize but I thought I would just be honest with the nurse when she asked me if I have left it. I didn't want someone else to get blamed for something I did wrong. Later I remembered that I had left it because I was in a hurry. The nurse said she appreciated my honesty and my friend said that he knew I didn't usually didn't do things like that. He said it was no big deal and I was the one cleaned up the mess. Jesus lets me know that I am accountable for my actions. He does a lot of things for me. He makes a great higher power and in the program I have found other higher powers. I can usually save a lot of time and effort by just relying on him first. Jesus seems just to take out a lot of the guess work for me. At a meeting just recently a friend and me have agreed on if you screw up just admit it. Why torture yourself? I know that Jesus died for my sins and paid the price. Jesus lets me know that I don't have to be a masochist and in a lot of things I am only accountable to him. Jesus tells me not to sweat the small stuff but take care of Matthew 3:3. He is the best comforter in my opinion.

I made the upgrade first as beta. It is working better now that it isn't beta.

What really sucks though is I just bought those memory sticks. I am going to have a talk with my local computer repair shop. I paid $39.00 a stick for those two 512.

I learned how to use the memory tester. You don't have to wait for all of the over 600,000 error messages. If it is good memory it will show up as good memory to begin with. I got the same error messages when I put the sticks of memory in this machine. If thy memory offend thee; Pluck it out.

Found a free version. Not sure if this is the same thing Debian 5 was trying to tell me or not. Not really sure, yet to tell when the test is done. Just going to let it run for a while.

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\system32\config\SYSTEM You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears, again, folow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacter for the driver updates. Try changing video adapters. check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode. STOP: Beginning dump of physical memory Physical memory dump complete.

Mother's Day
I woke my mother up with the phone call to wish her happy mother's day. She said I was the first one this year to wish a happy mommy's day. I then told her that she could go back to sleep but she said she had to get up anyways.

Another act of extremism I have became aware of is doing the same things over and over again and expecting different results. It can be like a form of insanity or a learning process. It didn't work the last time but maybe it will this time. With evolution this might happen. As a species I think we have the ability to learn from our mistakes as long as we can admit our mistakes. We as a species can adapt. I think we have adapted or otherwise we wouldn't be here.

One of my first memorable act of extremism was when I was trying to change the bicycle pedals on my bicycle. I asked my athiest father to help me. He told me that I could change it. He had confidence in me since he had taught me the difference in the sizes of wrenches. It would help him for me to hand him wrenches while he was under the vehicle on his back. I was so thrilled that he trusted me with his tools. But he had taught me about left handed threads, yet. The 9/16 wrench fit the pedal fine. I was so proud that I had figured it out on my own. But then I got frustrated because the no matter how hard I tried to turn the wrench even with the four fit cheater pipe it would not come off. He caught me about the time I had the pedal connector half cut off with the hacksaw saw.
He told me to just get away from the bike. He turned the wrnech the other way and said, "Now, see how easy that was?" Then he said, "Boy, you got a bad attitude and are going to have a hard time in life." Luckily for me my father was a welding instructor and just welded the bike back like it was before I had started on it. I will never forget when He gave me one of my most treasured possessions form him which is my anvil that is over 200 years old. He told me that it was mine but not to break it. It has been over 41 years and still I haven't figured out how to break it, yet. Lefty loosey- Righty tighty is one form of extremism because there are left handed threads.

Calmira XP
Great question! Why would anybody want to go back to Win 3.1? After a week or more Windows XP has finally after several attemps loaded up on the other machine I have been trying all different kinds of Oses to load. For some crazy reason it loaded fine with Fat 32 but stalled every time before when converting it to NTFS. The memory shows up as the full gigabyte of Ram. Personally, for me, Win 3.1 doesn't use as much memory because it is operating under DOS. Each newer version of Windows after 3.1 just consumes more memory. Linux kernel operates more efficently and isn't a memory hog as the newer version of Windows. In computer class we were told that Bill Gates said "DOS is dead".
http://oldfiles.org.uk/ DOS lives on.
