Husband vs Adult Child
QUOTE: QUOTE: So it's not his child? At first I assumed it was their kid, but then I read it again and I'm not sure. Anyway, interesting scenario, it's odd though because every husband I've ever known would have just told her she wasn't allowed to let him move back in and that would have been the end of it. My mom had a friend whose hubby threatened to divorce her if she helped their adult child, so she didn't. She wasnt "allowed" to help her kid?..Oh my gosh..ok that right there might be why I'm still single..lol..I'm 30yrs old..no man has to ALLOW me to do anything let alone to help my child |

question needed
QUOTE: QUOTE: It depends if she has a lease. And when the original lease expired? Usually it is year to year but if there is a roll over clause by occupying the apartment she may be stuck. If the original lease has expired she is now on a month to month basis which reduces her rights even more. Either way your sister probably is entitled to a certain amount of notice to raise her rent or demand a deposite in writing. But it may not be more than a month or even three days if she is behind on the rent. Checking local statutes is the key. Usually United Way can refer you to someone who can advise her of her rights. Since moving is probably going to cost your sis's friend more than she will collect from your sis she would be wise to tell her to move on and try to make peace with the landlord. Since it sounds like this landlord is looking for a reason to run your Sis's friend off she should be seriously looking for another apartment she can afford on her own and giving notice. Getting a bad rental record is something to be avoided like the plague because it can quickly lead to homelessness and ruin your sisters's friendship. Depending on either of their credit I would tell them both to check out any kind of houseing assistance programs or possible grants to buy her first home. Or being accepted by Habitat for Humanity to build them a home. If they accept her application they can probably help her negotiate her current situation. Getting a room mate is a big step that should be gone into with all parties in WRITTEN agreement about who pays what and written house rules. Most landlords do not tolerate add on tenants without their permission because of liability and municiple regulations on renting. Not to mention roommates cause many domestic problems and more wear and tear on the property. Or damage that will fall on your sister's friend's shoulders. You have a tough situation being a sister because you don't get to make her decisions for her but if you let her learn from her own actions and their consequences then maybe she will find wisdom before she finds fairness. Perhaps you can help her with temporary assistance but I would caution you not to jeapordize your houseing situation so that the children have no place. I have been a landlord in WI,If a tenent wants a roommate. We have to have a 30 days notice. And both parties have to sign, responsibilities. Also depends on lease. Is it month to month or year contract? There is more wear and tear on a dwelling, with more people there. Also w/s bill was paid by me,so that would be a higher bill. As for charging extra for rent, we have to give mim of 30 days notice.(I usually give 60 days from new lease date.)I do think your landlord may have thought of an raise in rent, because in 2 year, usually his insurance, building maintance etc has went up.But was taking the blunt cost. im not talking about bring charged for extra rent... i was talking about can the landlord charge for the deposit after 2yrs, which i dont think they can |

Arnold Schwarzenegger Gets Caught Parking Porsche Illegally
By Lindsay Robertson | Tuesday, November 24, 2009, 11:05 AM Governor Schwarzenegger on "Leno" last night. NBC/Justin Lubin Just last month, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's wife, Maria Shriver, was caught parking her Cadillac Escalade in an illegal red zone in Santa Monica, weeks after publicly apologizing for using her cellphone while driving. Now it seems her husband has the same bad parking habits. Yesterday, TMZ posted photos of the Governernator himself getting into a silver convertible Porsche in a red zone. It appears that the governor avoided a ticket (usually $90 for this particular violation), and his spokesman declined to comment. Interestingly, just last night Schwarzenegger appeared on "The Jay Leno Show," where he participated in Leno's running "Green Car Challenge" segment. The governor spent the first part of the segment talking about his commitment to promoting green cars (a category which definitely does not include Porsches), and became noticeably hesitant when Leno asked him how long it's been since he's gotten a speeding ticket. "Not in the last six years," Schwarzenegger said, which is the amount of time he's been governor. Good thing Jay didn't ask about parking tickets! Jay and Arnold then moved on to a gag that involved Arnold challenging Jay to a race and then "blowing up" his car with a bazooka: |

Man says through aide leaving coma like rebirth Belgium's Rom Houben uses his touchscreen to communicate during an interview at AP – Belgium's Rom Houben uses his touchscreen to communicate during an interview at the service center 't … By RAF CASERT, Associated Press Writer Raf Casert, Associated Press Writer – 1 hr 9 mins ago BRUSSELS – With a caretaker holding his hand, a Belgian man who was diagnosed as comatose for 23 years typed out a message Tuesday that he felt reborn after decades of loneliness and frustration. A leading bioethicist, however, expressed skepticism that the man was truly communicating on his own. Car-crash victim Rom Houben was diagnosed as being in a vegetative state but appears to have been conscious the whole time, doctors here said. An expert using a specialized type of brain scan that was not available in the 1980s says he finally realized Houben was conscious and provided him with the equipment to communicate. Assisted by a speech therapist who rapidly moved his finger letter by letter along a touch-screen keyboard, Houben told AP Television News that years of being unable to move or communicate left him feeling "alone, lonely, frustrated, but also blessed with my family." The therapist, Linda Wouters, told APTN that she can feel Houben guiding her hand with gentle pressure from his fingers, and that she feels him objecting when she moves his hand toward an incorrect letter. "It was especially frustrating when my family needed me. I could not share in their sorrow. We could not give each other support," Houben wrote during the interview at the 't Weyerke institute in eastern Belgium. "Just imagine. You hear, see, feel and think but no one can see that. You undergo things. You cannot participate in life." Arthur Caplan, a bioethics professor at the University of Pennsylvania, said he is skeptical of Houben's ability to communicate after seeing video of his hand being moved along the keyboard. "That's called 'facilitated communication,'" Caplan said. "That is ouija board stuff. It's been discredited time and time again. When people look at it, it's usually the person doing the pointing who's doing the messages, not the person they claim they are helping." Caplan also said the statements Houben allegedly made with the computer seem unnatural for someone with such a profound injury and an inability to communicate for decades. Asked how he felt when his consciousness was discovered, Houben responded through the aide that: "I especially felt relief. Finally be able to show that I was indeed there." "Just like with a baby, it happens with a lot of stumbling," he wrote. The doctor who discovered that Houben had been wrongly diagnosed said that he is re-examining dozens of other cases. Dr. Steven Laureys said he has discovered some degree of consciousness using state-of-the-art equipment in other patients but won't say how many. He looks at about 50 cases from around the world a year but none are as extreme as that of Rom Houben, who was fully conscious inside a paralyzed body. Many center on the fine distinction between a vegetative state and minimal consciousness. He said Tuesday that: "It is very difficult to tell the difference." His studies showed that some 40 percent of patients with consciousness disorders are wrongly given a diagnosis of a vegetative state. "It is clearly unacceptable. It is four times out of ten that they think the patient is in a vegetative state but in reality he is minimally conscious," Laureys said. Patients from Europe and around the world brought to his center in Liege for a second opinion go through and PET scans, MRI's and a battery of other tests during a weeklong reassessment. "Sometimes patients fly in and there is all this hope. But after the tests we have to confirm they are the opposite case from Rom and that there is no error," Laureys said. "But that too helps the family accept reality." In Belgium alone there are some 350 patients diagnosed as in a vegetative state, he said. |

QUOTE: my daughter's "father" hasn't seen her in over 3 years. You'd think I was asking to much of him just to call her for 10 minutes a week. He's busy... my ex hubby had not seen our son sense he was 2yrs old.(hes now 22yrs old with a mind capcity of a 12yr old) and when my son was in the hospitol the end of 2006 i ended up calling his dad for we had no idea if he was going to make it. i called his dad so many times i was harassing him, he finally gave in and came down and brought his wife and daughter. i sware his daughter had more freaken brains than he did... and when my son was released from the hospitol you would think his dad would had called to see how he was doing.. nope it was his wife that called to see how he was doing.. we never told my son that hia dad was there for we didnt know if it would do any damage.. |

mental case
i got in contact with my very first bf brother the other day as i found him on facebook, and he called me yesterday. i hadnt spoken to him or seen him in a few yrs.(yea were still good friends when we broke up it wasent a hate you thing) knowing him for 30yrs just like he was like a brother..
any how he said that he and his brother are now the manager of there apt, for someone tried to burn the apt down. and my first thought was craig(he was a old bf of mine when my daughter was little) which he lives in the same complex as my first ex bf. and he said yea it was him that started the fire... craig i havent seen in yrs but the last time i saw him i sware he was a mental case.. he was a big time mamma boy, anytime we got into a argument which was all the time he went and got his dang ''b' of a mom. oh yea she was bad. my daughter at 2yrs old couldnt even stand her, what 2yr old would hate anyone.. and when we finally broke up. that day i had came home from watching my oldest nephew, and i walk in and we had been arguing all that week, and we got into it again and i went into the bedroom to call my sister and craig of course went and got his mommy and he came in with a knife and his mom was just standing there like it was nothing.. he told me about a yr or so later that he had cancer and only had 6months to live i ask his mom and of course she hung up on me, i dont belive he ever had cancer i think he said that to try and get me back..LOL |
