A local group that questions the validity of the government's account of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks has been approved to adopt a stretch of a Missouri highway.
KMOX Radio reports that the "St. Louis 9-11 Questions Meet Up Group" has agreed to keep the part of the highway in St. Louis county clean in exchange for a sign promoting the group. According to its website, the group meets at least once a month because they are "concerned about the many disturbing aspects of the 9/11 attacks and interested in finding out more about those events." They also pass out promotional materials and show videos to the public explaining their views. According to KSDK, the group maintains they aren't promoting a conspiracy theory about the attacks, they just have questions about them. Group organizer Donald Stahl says he believes the World Trade Center towers in New York may have been brought down by a controlled demolition. "I believe there were explosions because I have pictures of them," Stahl told KSDK. "Anyone can go online and see those pictures, see those videos, hear those audio recordings." His group also believes United Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania into a hole that was already there, and members suspect it was a missile, not a plane, that hit the Pentagon. "I'm really not in favor with what they are saying," one local man told KSDK. "I don't agree with it. But I don't have a problem with them cleaning the streets..." I had just finished a meeting with a client when I heard about the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. As a parent of two, my first thought was how I couldn't wait to hug my children. My next thought turned to the victims and the parents who, due to the unfathomable actions of a monster, will not be able to do the same tonight. All I can think about are these children, their lost dreams and wasted futures. However, to my dismay this unspeakable tragedy has immediately become a springboard for gun-control advocates to lambast our gun laws. It disturbs me greatly that literally hours after one of the worst events in modern American history, media pundits and publications like, The New Yorker are politicizing the murder of kindergarten students to further their gun control agenda.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, when asked a question about gun control in the immediate aftermath of the massacre, responded by saying, "I think it's important, on a day like today, to view this -- as I know the president, as a father, does, and I as a father and others who are parents certainly do, which is to feel enormous sympathy for families.....There is, I am sure -- will be, rather -- a day for discussion of the usual Washington policy debates, but I do not think today is that day." Alex Koppelman of The New Yorker criticized Carney by describing his statement as cowardly. "This is the way that we deal with such incidents in the U.S. - we acknowledge them; we briefly are shocked by them; then we term it impolite to discuss their implications, and to argue about them. At some point, we will have to stop putting it off, stop pretending that doing so is the proper, respectful thing. It's not either. Its cowardice," Koppelman writes. What Koppelman fails to appreciate is that every school that faces such a tragedy is an individual isolated event that demands our respect and does not deserve to be desensitized into a political debate. By grouping today's Sandy Hook massacre as just one of "such incidents in the U.S.," Koppelman shows zero respect to any of the victims and the families affected by immediately turning this tragedy into a debate on gun control. As our nation mourns collectively, each of the parents and family members who lost loved ones Friday face a different level of individual sorrow. They deserve our respect. And they also deserve not to have their pain used as political equity. Before we jump to conclusions and make this a debate about the second amendment, it appears that the shooter, Adam Lanza borrowed his mother's guns for his heinous acts of murder. The guns were purchased legally. Make no mistake about it we have to do everything in our power to prevent a tragedy like this one from occurring again. Over the next few weeks we will learn about Lanza and whether he had any mental health issues that went ignored. You will hear people mistakenly argue that no matter how big of a monster Lanza was, the *real* villains who entered Sandy Hook Friday morning were the guns in his hand. Are we sure the absence of guns would have definitively prevented Lanza from killing? It didn't prevent Zheng Minsheng from walking into a classroom with a knife in Fugian Province on China's East Coast in 2010 and stabbing eight children to death. I am sure the parents of those eight children feel the same unimaginable pain that the parents in Connecticut feel today. Killers find a way to kill. Ultimately, what has me fuming as a parent is the fact that a person was able to enter a public school with a weapon, any weapon. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by Friday's tragedy. Mercedes Colwin is an attorney and the managing partner of Gordon & Rees's New York office. The Looney Left is already making this about politics. They sure didn't take long to start in on their gun control BS and Dem Congressman who's district is part of where this happened took the opportunity to praise the President when talking about this tragedy! Not to mention Obummer jumping at the opportunity to get in front of the cameras and talk about this situation!

Anti-illegal immigration groups slammed the Department of Homeland Security for allegedly waiting to arrest an illegal immigrant intern working for a prominent U.S. senator until after the election -- though the department "categorically" denied the allegation.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested Luis Abrahan Sanchez Zavaleta, 18, in front of his home in New Jersey on Dec. 6. One official involved in the case told the Associated Press that the DHS told agents not to arrest the individual, who was employed as an unpaid intern for Democratic New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez, until after Election Day. ICE spokesman Brian Hale called the claim "categorically false." "ICE followed standard process in coordination with its federal partners and local prosecutors before taking appropriate enforcement action," he said in a statement. But watchdog groups were not so convinced, with one calling for a separate investigation. "The Department of Homeland Security knew that Luis Sanchez Zavaleta was both an illegal alien and a registered sex offender as early as October," said Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform. "Nevertheless, high ranking DHS officials placed electoral politics ahead of public safety and the law, when they instructed ICE agents not to arrest Mr. Sanchez until after the 2012 elections." Stein went on to say the account would "ratify charges by career ICE agents that the Obama administration is recklessly disregarding immigration law." Stein called for a "full and independent investigation" into the case, "based on the allegations of the ICE officers and strong evidence that DHS leadership interfered in a criminal arrest for political reasons." William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, went so far as to call for DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano's and Menendez' resignation. "Menendez's new term in the U.S. Senate is illegitimate now that we know he would have likely lost his reelection bid if the White House had not protected the illegal alien sex offender intern from arrest before Election Day," he said in a statement. It's unclear whether the arrest would have made a difference. Menendez won re-election with a comfortable 58 percent of the vote. Menendez' office has meanwhile distanced itself from the intern. Spokeswoman Tricia Enright said that he was an unpaid college intern in their Newark office for two months. "No staff member responsible for managing the internship program had reason to believe, based on their interview process, that Sanchez had any criminal background or immigration issues. Clearly Mr. Sanchez sought to deceive our staff," she said in a statement. Enright said Sanchez' "relationship with our office immediately ended" as soon as the senator's office was informed of his arrest. She said Menendez is "appalled" by the incident. "He has no tolerance for those who violate the law and expects the authorities to continue to prosecute the case. Senator Menendez believes this incident underscores the reason we need comprehensive immigration reform that provides zero tolerance for those who have criminal records," she said. The prosecutor's office in Hudson County, N.J., said Sanchez was found to have violated the law in 2010 and subsequently required to register as a sex offender. The exact charge was unclear because Sanchez was prosecuted as a juvenile and those court records are not publicly accessible. The prosecutor's office confirmed to AP that Sanchez registered as a sex offender, although his name does not appear on the public registry. The acting county prosecutor, Gaetano Gregory, is a Republican. Authorities in Hudson County notified ICE agents in early October that they suspected Sanchez was an illegal immigrant who was a registered sex offender and who may be eligible to be deported. ICE agents in New Jersey notified superiors at the Homeland Security Department because they considered it a potentially high profile arrest, and DHS instructed them not to arrest Sanchez until after the November election, one U.S. official told the AP. ICE officials complained that the delay was inappropriate, but DHS directed them several times not to act, the official said. It was not immediately clear why federal immigration authorities would not have been notified sooner about Sanchez's status. During discussions about when and where to arrest Sanchez, the U.S. reviewed Sanchez's application for permission to stay in the country as part of President Obama's policy to allow up to 1.7 million young illegal immigrants avoid deportation and get permission to work for up to two years. As a sex offender, he would not have been eligible. Citizenship and Immigration Services, which oversees the program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, notified Sanchez of that shortly before his arrest, one official said. Menendez said the arrest spoke to the need for comprehensive immigration reform that brings illegal immigrants out of the shadows. QUOTE: QUOTE: Members of the U.S. military serving overseas have to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with locals. If it is not the mission of U.S. soldiers to change the local culture, then by criticizing the local culture, U.S. soldiers could be jeopardizing their ability to fulfill their military mission. Using street smarts is as necessary overseas as it is at home. There may be just cause to challenge the legitimacy of elements of the local culture, but the job of making such a challenge doesn't belong to the rank-and-file soldiers. It's really hard to mind your own business when a man is beating his wife. This is clearly an example of the clash of cultures. You are right, though, it is not the job of the Military to dictate western culture to them. Women in America had to fight tooth and nail for the right to vote in this country and some were jailed and tortured, even killed in the process. What are we doing over there again? Oh yeh, maintaining the supply of drugs for all the drug addicted Americans. I'm sure oil has something to do with it too. That or when you see a pedophile with a 9 year old wife. Anyone decent person with integrity will be disgusted by that.

A proposed new handbook for Americans serving in Afghanistan warns them not to speak ill about the Taliban, advocate women’s rights or criticize pedophilia, and the general in charge is not happy with it.
The draft of the newest Army handbook seems to suggest that ignorance of Afghan culture is to blame for deadly attacks by Afghan soldiers against the coalition forces, according to The Wall Street Journal, which got a peek at the 75-page document. But its message of walking on eggshells around the locals is not going over well with U.S. Marine Gen. John Allen, the top military commander in Afghanistan. "Gen. Allen did not author, nor does he intend to provide, a foreword," said Col. Tom Collins, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition in Afghanistan. "He does not approve of its contents." More than three dozen attacks by Afghan soldiers have claimed the lives of some 63 members of the U.S.-led coalition this year. The insider attacks could jeopardize plans to transfer full security control to Afghan forces in 2014. But a claim by their own government that they’re to blame is not likely to buoy the spirits of Americans risking their lives to serve. "Many of the confrontations occur because of [coalition] ignorance of, or lack of empathy for, Muslim and/or Afghan cultural norms, resulting in a violent reaction from the [Afghan security force] member," the Journal quotes the draft handbook as saying. The version reviewed by the Journal is still subject to revisions, Lt. Gen. David Perkins, commander of the Army's Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., told the Journal. The study, based on interviews with 600 members of the Afghan security forces and 200 American soldiers, painted a grim portrait of opposing cultures with simmering disdain for their counterparts. The draft handbook includes a summary stating that some U.S. soldiers consider Afghan forces to be “basically stupid” thieves, "gutless in combat," "profoundly dishonest" and engaged in "treasonous collusion and alliances with enemy forces." The draft handbook offers a list of "taboo conversation topics" that soldiers should avoid, including "making derogatory comments about the Taliban," "advocating women's rights," "any criticism of pedophilia," "directing any criticism toward Afghans," "mentioning homosexuality and homosexual conduct" or "anything related to Islam," according to the Journal. Criminal Minds Rant
"Criminal Minds" has always been a show designed to push the envelope of what a crime procedural can be on broadcast television, and we now have the latest example of this very thing courtesy of an upcoming episode.
According to a brand-new report coming to us via E! News, there will be a story later on during season 8 that focuses on a conversion camp, which is where gay children are often sent in order to be "transformed" when it comes to their sexual orientation. This is a touchy subject that really to this point has only been introduced on cable, with "American Horror Story: Asylum" even using shock value in order to touch on it rather than cold, hard reality. So how is this going to be specifically woven into a story? Basically, we are going to be meeting a man in his twenties during this episode who was sent at one point to one of these camps, and he now is having to deal with the ramifications that come along with that. Will he be a victim or a suspect in a case? It's possible, though he could just be a witness to something that rings true to some experience that he had in his past. Despite being over 150 episodes into its run, "Criminal Minds" continues to come up with new and inventive stories for CBS. In addition to that, it also remains a ratings force and the network's top-rated series on Wednesday nights. What do you think about the idea behind this episode, and how do you imagine it being a part of the overall story? We want to hear some of your thoughts below! 'Criminal Minds' season 8 spoilers: Controversial episode coming up - National TV | Examiner.com Yikes, I have been following this season faithfully and I have a bad feeling Dr. Reid's mystery women might be a he\she after reading this article!

I say, prosecute the negligent parents along with these demons. Anyone with information is asked to call police. The same type that raised Trevon Martin. or Zimmerman,,, except without the judge and judges influence, of course,,, Zimmerman wasn't a druggie and thug who was on suspension from school. no he was a repeated assault suspect who always somehow 'got off' without going to jail,,,, Actually it was only once and he was never charged or convicted as Martin was since he was SUSPENDED for DRUGS and was a known THUG. Zimmerman for President! it was not just once, domestic restraining order, assault on a cop, and fired for throwing a woman at his job,,, and him not being charged or convicted before is kind of my point his offenses were committed as an ADULT as well, not as a kid nice to see the double standard though, regarding presidential requirements and all,,, as long as he was never 'charged',,,,,,
by the way , was Martin ever 'charged or convicted' of being a thug or using drugs? Where was he convicted of anything? Actually he did have a juvenile record and was currently on SUSPENSION from school for DRUGS which means they had solid evidence. |
