Yeah, that's not going to work... New Republic tweeted a picture of Barack Obama on a skeet range, in defense of his assertion that he shoots "all the time." It didn't take long to uncover this charade, and the magazine deleted the image. You can even see his Golfing-Gloves in his Pocket!

The White House has released a photograph of President Obama skeet shooting at Camp David -- some proof for critics skeptical about whether Obama, amid efforts to tighten gun control, saying he takes target practice at the presidential retreat and that he has a “profound respect” of the tradition of hunting.
The official photo apparently depicts Obama – wearing protective glasses and earmuffs -- firing the shotgun Aug. 4, 2012. It was released Friday on the White House’s Flickr account. The back-and-fourth about whether the president indeed shoots clay targets – or “pigeons” – started after The New Republic on Sunday release an interview with the president in which he was asked if he had ever fired a gun. "Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time," Obama said. "Not the girls, but oftentimes guests of mine go up there. And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake." The president, some fellow Democrats in the Senate and others have pushed for tighter gun control since the Dec. 14 shootings inside a Connecticut elementary school in which 20 first-graders and six adults were killed. Senate hearings on the issue started this week. Whether the photo will silence those skeptical about the president’s experience handling a firearm remains unclear. "The president is holding the shotgun as one would hold and aim a rifle," said John H. Josselyn, legislative vice president for the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore Inc. "If the president were actually shooting on a skeet or trap range, he would have been wearing a belt with a shell bag or a shooting vest. This is a poorly staged publicity photo intended to deceive the public by portraying the president as something he is not." Josselyn is a certified firearms instructor for the National Rifle Association and Maryland State Police. Chris Chenowith, a member of the Carney Rod and Gun Club, outside Baltimore, pointed out the president has his right hand pretty far up the barrel. "It gets awfully warm up there," he said. "He might have shot the gun like that, but not more than once." The president has only been skeet shooting a couple of times at Camp David, a source who says he has been to the retreat on a half-dozen visits with Obama told FoxNews.com earlier this week. "The only time he shot skeet was for President's Cup," said the source, referring to a shooting competition tradition involving the presidential Marine guards. "I was there. He stayed for about five minutes, and couldn't leave fast enough." The source also said a friend recalled Obama skeet shooting one other time at Camp David -- very early in his first term. The recently released photo is from the later part of Obama’s first term and provides information for which the press has asked over the past several days. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters earlier this week that he was unsure about how often the president shoots at Camp David. Carney also said no photos had been released “because when (Obama) goes to Camp David, he goes to spend time with his family and friends and relax, not to produce photographs." "There may be” a photo," he said, "but I haven't seen it." Anyone who looks at that picture knows it's staged and he has no actual experience shooting guns. |

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Gov. Rick Perry said emphatically Saturday that the Boy Scouts of America shouldn't soften its strict no-gays membership policy, and dismissed the idea of bending the organization to the whims of "popular culture."
Perry is an Eagle Scout and in 2008 he authored the book "On My Honor: Why the American Values of the Boy Scouts Are Worth Fighting For." It detailed the governor's deep love for the organization and explained why it should continue to embrace traditional, conservative values -- including excluding openly gay members and Scout leaders. America's longest-serving governor addressed the Texas Scouts' 64th annual Report to State, where hundreds of Scouts from around Texas filled the state House of Representatives to announce their delegation's recent accomplishments. Perry has addressed the gathering several times before, most recently in 2010, but not since the announcement that the Scouts' national leadership is mulling scrapping the mandatory exclusion of gay members. Instead, the group could allow different religious and civic groups that sponsor Scout units to decide for themselves how to address the issue -- either maintaining the exclusion or opening up their membership. Even though the Boy Scouts reaffirmed the no-gays policy just seven months ago, the proposal is expected to be discussed, and possibly voted on, at the meeting of the Scouts' national executive board, which begins Monday in Irving, outside Dallas. Perry told the youngsters that the Scouts was a key reason he joined the U.S. Air Force and later sought public office, and that society's failure to adhere to the organization's core values was a cause for high rates of teen pregnancy and wayward youth who grow up to be "men joining their fathers in prison." Speaking to reporters afterward, Perry said: "Hopefully the board will follow their historic position of keeping the Scouts strongly supportive of the values that make Scouting this very important and impactful organization." "I think most people see absolutely no reason to change the position and neither do I," Perry said. He said his views on the subject haven't changed since writing his book, in which he noted that profits would be donated to the Boy Scouts of America Legal Defense since "they continue to be under attack from the forces of secularism." Asked if he would feel different about the Scouts if the policy is changed, Perry wouldn't say. But he added: "to have popular culture impact 100 years of their standards is inappropriate." He also disagreed that allowing members of all sexual preferences would make the Scouts more tolerant: "I think you get tolerance and diversity every day in Scouting." Fred Sainz of the Human Rights Campaign, a national gay rights group, said Saturday, "It's a shame that Governor Perry has chosen to be on the wrong side of history." "Governor Perry and the Boy Scouts are both completely out of touch with where America is going on this issue," he said "There should be one national, non-discrimination policy. We can't quite wrap our heads around why that is so difficult to do in 2013." Perry wrote in his book that he doesn't "believe the teaching of sexual preference fits within the parameters of Scouting's mission," but also made it very clear he'd like to keep gay members from joining. "Because gay activism is central to their lives, it would unavoidably be a topic of conversation within a Scout troop. This would distract from the mission of Scouting: character building, not sex education," he wrote. Perry also questioned whether sexual preference is determined at birth or is a matter of personal choice in his book, and wrote that he doesn't believe in "condemning homosexuals that I know personally." Zach Wahls is an Eagle Scout raised in Iowa by two lesbian moms who has become a leading activist against the no-gays policy. Wahls said by phone Saturday he believes national Scout leaders will soften the membership policy next week, and he hopes the move won't make Perry won't turn his back on the Scouts. "We've been called bullies and had people say `you're imposing your will,"' he said. "Our organization isn't calling for the removal of anybody who disagrees with us. We support fully inclusive Scouting." Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/02/02/texas-gov-perry-says-boy-scouts-should-keep-no-gay-policy/#ixzz2JokXYHUn I agree with Governor Perry on this issue. I am an Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow member have been involved in scouting all my life. I also support gay marriage and rights but I am against this. The BSA is their own organization and they should be allowed to say who they want and don't want as members. Homosexuality is something that doesn't fit in with the core values of Scouting. |

Congrats. Some friends of mine got married last year and went to the dollar store to buy cheap stuff for their table settings. For the reception; they just had a buffet style as it saved them money from sit down served meals. Print off your own wedding invites from your home computer. Of course; use a cash bar for the wedding. Look online for wedding dresses at lower prices and have your local tailor adjust it for you. Keep the invite list small. These are all the ideas I can think of at this time. We have already done all that Except that the golf course that we locked in for the reception does all the decorations!

So far we have a church wedding with a reception at a golf course and were doing an 8 inch cake with about 100 cupcakes under it from a local bakery that does cupcake wedding cakes, got a DJ lined up, dress and vail, we made the invitations on our computer and just got invitation stock from Office Depot. Now we just need to figure out the flowers, ring, what I am gonna wear etc :) |

QUOTE: QUOTE: QUOTE: the guns are an obvious one, but as mentioned elsewhere, our culture might need to be reexamined too,,,, There are Mentally Ill people out there and who needs help in many ways but Many never receive the right help to lead to recovery. Im not even sure thats the simple answer but 'mental illness' is a whole other topic Im sure medicine will attribute certain genes to these illnesses but I suspect (again) our cultural environment has much more to do with it and just drugging the problem doesnt do enough to make things better ,,,,,, So it's just easier to take someone Constitutionally protected right away from them?!? |
