QUOTE: I remember getting a Rubella/German Measels shot (sp?) when I was younger. I was sick for three weeks. If you want to get healthy, wash with antibacterials less and take in more germs, give your body a fighting chance to protect itself Yikes, three weeks is a long time. When you were younger, they were using live viruses. They haven't done that in years. Yes, I've been hearing that about the antibacterials too. Also, get enough sleep and eat right and stay away from sick people.

QUOTE: QUOTE: Don't be surprised if you get some auto-immune disease down the road. It may take a while to appear. So hmmm, another medical created problem. The over-use of antibiotics CREATED these viruses. And the best place to pick one up....THE HOSPITAL!!!!!! Scared of the flu? No way. Scared of the medical system? Oh Yea
I think these types of threads are fun and helpful in many ways. It lets us share our knowledge and experiences with our fellow minglers (Lady, I am truly sorry to hear about your child's bad experience). However, it would be helpful to do a little research before taking a posted website's information as fact. For example, the overuse of antibiotics is a real problem in that some strains of bacteria have been strengthened by improper use (they are called superbugs) and the effectiveness of the antibiotic is now limited by it's over use ... but creating these viruses? No way. viruses and bacteria have almost nothing in common other than symptoms of some of the diseases they cause. Antibiotics are not used to treat virus infections. If used at all, they prevent secondary infections while the body's immune system is weakened. Antibiotics are used to fight bacteria, usually by killing them. Antivirals are used to treat some viruses, usually by slowing the replication process so the immune system can clear them out. Almost anything powerful enough to kill a virus would kill the host. Thank you. Antibiotics have nothing to do with viruses. Antibiotics only deal with bacteria. |

QUOTE: QUOTE: IM also curious,,what is the REQUIRED number of episodes or length of time that one must view FOX news for their negative opinion of it to be just as legitimate as someone elses positive opinion of it? No "requirement", -my point was that a good majority of people who bash it, I'd be willing to bet, have never even watched it once. Many people are easily swayed by what others tell them they should think or believe - that's a sad statement; but it's the truth. I don't like Fox News and I've watched it quite a bit. I wouldn't be capable of having an opinion about it if I had never seen it. |

QUOTE: QUOTE: If Obama fails, the U.S. fails. Winx, that is a ridiculous assertion. We've had Presidents who have failed and survived. However, there are many who believe that if Obama succeeds at his agenda, the U.S. will fail. You're obviously not one of them, but don't just throw out statements that are logical fallacies. It's not ridiculous at all. We have been in the worse recession since the big Depression. We fail if we reach another big depression. |

QUOTE: What happened to that girl is very sad. Do you really think that people want Americans to die or become disabled? What would be the point of that? This is the reality. A person has more of a chance of getting killed in a car accident then they have of having problems with flu shots. Oh, gee, duh, um..... money!!!!
Big Pharma gets a lifelong customer. I'm afraid I have to backtrack a little, America's biggest problem isn't being dumbed down, it is being naive in the extreme. How is your houseboat holding up on the river DeNile? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ You are being so rude to me. I don't talk that way to you. It's true - you can die from a car accident easier then having a negative affect from a flu shot. I'm not dumbed down or naive. You don't know my background. Yeah, right, pharmaceuticals get a lifelong customer if you're dead. They also want all of us to be disabled and non-working, non-tax paying citizens.

I also have one bare foot and one fractured foot in a gimp shoe. Ooops, I have no make-up on either.
The kitchen is closed for the night.
If I throw the gimp shoe at you, I won't be able to walk.

I will say this on this thread too.
This is the reality. We have more of a chance of getting killed in a car accident then we have of having anything negative happening from a flu shot. |

QUOTE: QUOTE: QUOTE: Don't you just LOVE getting in line behind a bunch of people at the fast checkout who each whip out a credit card to pay for a chocolate milk and a bag of peanuts? Think of all the lost time, not to mention that prices are higher for everyone because of the merchant fees the credit card companies collect. As for being penalized, some people seem to forget that wave after wave of bank mergers created these big Goliaths that became a law unto themselves. Without competition, they know they can charge all kinds of fees, raise the rates through the roof and then point the finger at the deadbeats. Deadbeats that they THEMSELVES issued cards to, knowing they could clip them for 30% after they had them snagged, and because their lobbyists got their mostly GOP friends in Congress to change the bankruptcy laws locking them in. I have a card with a big bank, and they are extremely annoying. I get a call about every other week from them hawking some new financial product they want me to charge. I'm sure things will get SOOOO much better when the One Big Bank Of America is the only card issuer left. I, for one, welcome our new financial overlords. -Kerry O., "BTW, that last line was sarcasm." Nah, I think I was behind you when you paid in cash and the cashier didn't have enough quarters or pennies and had to open the rolls and put them in the drawer. Then she had to turn to the other cashier and get change in 5 ones, a five, and a ten for a twenty. Or were you the guy that wrote the check, waiting until all your groceries had been tallied? Maybe you are the guy that paid with your payroll check.
Man, cards are definitely faster. And I wonder if our government was behind in anyway of all that "easy credit". Sorry, none of the above. I pay cash for everything and many times do the math in my head and have pretty close to the exact amount ready. I don't write checks because of all the shenningans. I think it's much more likely that some problem with the credit card or terminal is going to hold the line up. Besides, if you're one of those people who think Big Brother is always watching, what better way to make it easy for him than to use digital money? I also think that credit cards encourage implusive and sometimes reckless spending because they are not 'real' money. You know that when you surrender your currency to buy something, you get instant feedback that you have less of it after a transaction. It serves to make you aware that you worked X amount of hours to get Y amount of currency. That in and of itself encourages thrift. Instant gratification sometimes makes you forget that other part of the equation. -Kerry O. I only use cash or checks. I got rid of my charge card years ago. I had it for years. It got too easy to use. I would use it even when I had the cash. I decided that I was keeping that interest payment for me. |

QUOTE: QUOTE: Wow, I didn't know that he had that. The father two houses away from me had a mastectomy last year for breast cancer. He's been going through the chemo. My father's sister died from breast cancer 20 years ago. I didn't believe this "Men can get breast cancer" the first time I heard it, but apparently it is very real. My great aunt got breast cancer and had a mastectomy and it went away but came back so they did another and hit and it seemed to have gone away but it got into her lymph nodes and that did her in 4 years ago. I can imagine that it was a surprise for you to hear that about men getting breast cancer. I think that most women know about it. We all have the tissue to develop it. I'm sorry about your Great-Aunt.
I lost an Aunt to it. I have friends that have lost their mothers to it.
