I'm a business owner so I have to call a lot of other businesses for services.

There is nothing worse than having a secretary answer the phon and, tell me I need to speak to Bob, then transfer me and Bob doesn't pick up and I have to listen to a female computer say "Sorry...(pause) "insert person's voice saying his own name"(pause) is not available right now, please leave a message..."

Doesn't she as a secretary know Bob is busy or not there?

No.

I think Bob just being a D*ckhead and not picking up his phone.

That's right Bob knew that Genius was calling and chose to ignore him, because he does not need or want your business.

Depends on how large the business is. If she doesn't have line of sight to that person's office, she may not have a clue as to whether or not he's there.

Funny you should say that. The company I work for just got caller i.d.

By boss told the receptionist that if a call is for him just transfer. DON'T say anything else. If he is in there and wants to talk ok, but 99.9% of the time he won't answer and lets it go to voice mail unless it is someone he wants to talk to.

Give her a break, she may have calls coming in and may not have time to converse to tell you he is busy.

Ahhhhhhh ok. Then she probably did know whether or not he was there or busy, and should be beaten with a wet noodle.

Ask the secretary to take your name and number and have Bob return your call. If he does't then I'd find someone else to do business with. I used to only have these problems when I billed clients and didn't get paid on time. The last 20 years or so I work strictly cash or check on completion when it's not an old client thats proved themselves honest. Virtually all my client calls now are incoming, not outgoing. It goes like this "Help!!! Nothings working!!". lol I get paid.

He called me back right away...this time. but the aggravating part is NOT KNOWING how long it will take for him to respond. In this case, I knew the guy was there, but other times...I have to wait 3 or 4 days to hear back. By then, the allocated time I had to accomplish the project has already passed and subsequently have to allocate more time which is running about 30 days in the future.

I answer the phones here.....among other things. But I always give the person the option of voicemail, written msg....or just call back later.....
