Okay, so over time, I've men put up thread on hating things question. I've seen men discussing about how it pisses them off and they think the girl is a gold digger.

Why 'MOST' women really ask this:

The context -- Several women get together for lunch, dinner, a girl's night out. Whatever. Maybe one or two bring along a friend the others do not know.

So the ladies will be chatting about various things, eating, drinking. They will talk about interests, hobbies, and work. Someone in a conversation with the lady they don't know will ask what the other does for a living. Maybe it is something interesting. Maybe it is something the asker might actually know something about. They can discuss it.

To 'most' women, this question is SMALL TALK! It isn't an attempt to find out how much money you make. This is a nice, casual, supposedly safe question that could lead to mutual interests and interesting discussion!

This is the context that most women are bring up the question. Sure there are the occasional people after the monetary issue. But they are so far fewer than the men seem to think.

Seeing the issue come up so many times here and seeing it being discussed among a few people reciently, I just had to add my two cents.

Now if a woman actually comes out and asks you how much you make, then you can honestly worry about her interest in your finances.
