The first archaeological evidence of Jesus' existence has come to light, literally written in stone, according to one of the top world experts in deciphering ancient Near East inscriptions.

"Amazing as it may sound, a limestone bone box, called an ossuary, has surfaced in Israel that may once have contained the bones of James, the brother of Jesus," André Lemaire, professor of Hebrew and Aramaic philology and epigraphy at the Sorbonne University in Paris, wrote in the upcoming issue of Biblical Archaeology Review.

"We know this because an extraordinary inscription incised on one side of the ossuary reads in clear Aramaic letters: 'James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus,'" he wrote.

Careful studies, including scrutiny under a scanning electron microscope show the inscription to be genuine. The patina, or oxidized surface equally covers both box and the interior of the etched letters. The recognized expert on such matters, Dr. Andre Lemaire, concludes: "I am pleased to report that in my judgment it is genuinely ancient and not a fake."

However, with the wealth of historical evidence for Christ. Soon the apostles had written letters detailing Christ's life and teachings, to be followed by the writings of Paul all widely copied and circulated, within the lifetime of eyewitnesses. The Roman historian Josephus mentioned Christ several times while relating noteworthy civic events, including the execution of one named "James, the brother of Jesus who was called the Christ/Messiah" referring evidently to Jesus' brother James, leader of the early church and author of the New Testament book bearing his name.

All three names used were common in that era, but seldom was the deceased's brother mentioned, unless that brother was noteworthy. To have all three listed, in correct Biblical relationship certainly supports the possibility of this being the ossuary of the Biblical James.

Above all were Witnesses to Jesus and his miracles and all that he did.

curious...why does everyone want proof? i haven't seen anyone ask for proof about other beliefs. goddess or faeries or other things

I got proof in my own way but I think he will come all in good times but I want to know what you think of him ok.

oh .... gotcha. i know there have been findings but it's what you believe really. since they don't have Jesus' DNA etc....it's not able to prove to everyone's satisfaction. but i have seen shows on it from the history channel and discovery channel

Well I think the stuff Feral posted is about as close as you're going to come on "proof". Personally I think the lack of proof is, assuming that's what it is, is deliberate.

This is very true.....and the only reason I put up what they ask for is for someone who may be searching and doesn't have faith.

I see your point but if you give them the proof they ask for will they truly ever have faith?

maybe not....but it opens the door for them to ask more...which 92% of the time is the case. Like I have said a ton of times....what people believe is there business, but bring up God, Jesus Christ, and the Bible and I will be right there...not because the Lord needs protection, nor for the naysayers, but for those searching to see it a different way.

just the fact that u ask means there is something tuging inside that wants 2 know the big picture. listen 2 what ur mind is telling u and the rest will fall in 2 place. SOME THING DID MAKE US AND THERE IS A POINT 2 LIFE.

Very true Deb. And of course the "proof" it's self requires some faith, and as you say opens the door to many questions.

All true and I'm definitely not saying I disagree with you, but all those things require faith as well.

the more u look in 2 the dynamics of how life comes 2 be the only answer is something made us. no faith is needed
