I dont think its too much at all. Its a wonderful gift. It shows that the person really thinks about you and that you are something special in their life. I would take a poem over just about any material gift imaginable. Poems need to be written and they require time and effort and an emotional outpouring.

I'm a poet, so it comes with the package, like it or not.

I would absolutely love it if someone put that much thought and time into describing how he felt about us. Definitely not too much. smitten

Depends upon where we are in the relationship at the time.

Too much. I'm a cheap date and don't need to be wooed by some lame-ass poetry.

Romantic. My GF likes to write & I've gotten a few from her. That reminds me, I should return the favor

This is sorta a trick question. A poem is practically the definition of romance.

The real question might be more like Who has known someone romantic enough to write poetry.

or

Is your lover too lazy to write poetry?

Poetry and romance go together like peanut butter and jelly most of the time.

But we are all different and some do not see the value of focused thought in "poetic" endeavors. If I got one I would be impressed that they took the time.
