How much stock do you put into something someone tells you about someone you like that is not a good thing, do you ask the person if it's true or not or do you just take the word of that person telling you and never get the friend's side?

Griff, You make your own judgement...what you think is what matters
Always ask. Trust your instinct!
If you don't, you may make a big mistake that could have been the best thing that has ever happened to you.

That would depend on how well I know and trust the friend telling me the bad stuff. Usually I would ask the 'new' friend - there may be truth in what you were told but from a different perspective. Things are not always what they seem.

I found out a lot of stuff about my son's "biological sperm doner", as we call him, after it was to late. Wish my friends had fessed up sooner...not that I would want to be without my son, just that they knew bad stuff about this man. Said they were hoping he had changed so kept quiet.

So I guess I say listen, then ask.

I'm stubborn, so if I like someone, I like them til they give me reason not to. Not sure if this is good or bad...

So you say make the friend show you they are bad, don't listen to rumors and accept they are.

Yeah, I guess I'm too loyal. And if someone tries to tell me I shouldn't hang out with someone, or do something, that only makes me want to do it more. I'm a typical hard-headed Capricorn.laugh

It's as simple as this, if you are going to listen to the friend verses the one you like whats the sense of liking her when apparently you already don't trust her? Sometimes we have to stop and ask ourselves these little questions... Hope all goes well flowerforyou

No No, thats not exactly it... a friend gets told something by someone and then the friend decides that has to be true and no more friendship... without even asking about the truthfullness of the rumor.

Thats the senario.

That's not a true friend then, that's a sheep, I don't trust sheep.

Sounds to me like that "friend" wasn't willing to see two sides to a story.....Maybe it is just as well.slaphead

Bummer

It sounds a bit back to grade school to me, but when I am faced with someone telling me something about someone else I'm like really lets go talk to so and so face to face and get this cleared up, if they back off its a lie and well if they face the person they are speaking about it normaly gets settled...
