Have any of you watched or taken a few minutes to watch the Baby
Beauty pageants. All these little girls, tarted up, spray tanned, fake finger and toe nails, fake teeth. fake lashes, etc. etc. What is this doing to their self image? I personally don't like seeing them in their get-ups, for all the world trying to look like they're in their teenage or looking like tarted up adults. Is this just wrong?

Love the new picture..
I think that there has to be a fine balance done when a child enters this world.. I know as a parent I wouldnt' do it, as child I did some modeling and it is rough I mean really rough. I didn't handle it well am actually glad I didn't grow tall enough to peruse it. At the time I was bummed really bummed.

Personally I would't allow my children to do it. Again there has to be a fine balancing act going on.

Thanks Sitka, but believe me, there are some disadvantages to being tall too. Like always hitting my head on some damn thing.

I have seen the interviews with parents.
The little girls look like mannequins. The girls seem stressed and it seems as though the parents want the crowns more than the girls. It's a very strange situation to put a child in.

I think its ridiculous! And to see how much pressure is put on those little girls makes me sick. I was in pageants when I was in the 4th and 5th grade and my mom NEVER put that much, if any, make up on me. I never had fake teeth and my hair was never that done up. Now I always came in second and won most beautiful a few times and every judge left comments on my score card about natural beauty (don't ask me where that natural beauty went because I don't know lol).

I also have a home video of me asking my mom why all the girls got to wear so much make up and she simply replied "because I believe in you the way you are and not the way I can make you up"

So watching the show makes me feel like their mothers don't believe their child is beautiful unless they are made up. It makes me sad and angry....

PS ~ I swear I am NOT tooting my own horn because that was years ago.

Very wise mother you have. What a compliment to you, especially at that age.

Sometimes when I watch "Toddlers and Tiaras" I just want to smack the crap out of the parents and then out of some of the kids. They can be so nasty about the other contestants, I would hate to see them in a few years.

Also, by the time they finish taking off the hair pieces, taking the fake teeth out, fake eyelashes, nails, etc, I am reminded of the movie "I'm Gonna Get You, Sucka" by the Wayan brothers. Main character picks up some woman in a bar, goes to a hotel room and by the time they finish taking off everything fake....they are sitting there with one arm, fake leg, "chicken cutlets" on the floor next to the butt builder..shocked shocked

Oh I remember that, also getting back to the kids they grow up so worried about the outward appearances and what other's thinkn of them they don't get achance to experience what being a kid means.
