There are loads of great comedies, and some terrible ones too.

Recently we have moved away from that style of comedy. Spaced, Black Books, The Office, Extras, The league of Gentlement and the Mighty Boosh have brought something different. I love all those shows, but I still love the classics. I think i'll be watching Allo Allo tonight with a few beers and a drop of whisky. That combination always makes things funnier.

I won't get to watch any of them till 10 my time tonight and IF i'm lucky. They are having a telethon to support the BBC channel to keep them on Public Brodcasting. So they may not even be showing them. Sometimes they don't..tears ..they have music specials on that I don't care about. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that they let us see our regular Sunday night comedies tonight. I don't know if I can live without seeing Hyacinth or not..GEZZZZZZZZZZZZ its so hard!!!...laugh laugh laugh

Well, here's hoping that you get to see Mrs Bucket....sorry Bouquet laugh tonight.

Glad we don't have telethons to keep our TV chanels going. I notice that shows like The Simpsons take the mickey out of telethons for PBS.

We pay a licence fee to have a TV in this country, that basically pays to keep all BBC services running.

Thank you!..Yes!! I hope I get to see her too!!..Yes, Bouquet although Richard has always pronounced it Bucket till he married HER!!!...laugh laugh ...

We don't have to pay for tv here unless we have cable or a dish of somekind. We did have to get coverter boxes to go on our tv's though to get the DTV stuff if we use just antennas which I do use. Nothing fancy here in my house. laugh

We pay £120 per year for a TV licence. You have to have one to watch regular TV. If you do not have one and you are caught with a TV in your property then you are fined and could go to prison (if you don't pay the fine).

We have regular 5 chanels that you get through the antennas. 3 are paid for by advertisers and 2 of them are BBC chanels.

If you want more than the 5 chanels you get through the antenna you have to have a SKY dish or cable operator for a monthly fee. There are things called freeview boxes that give you 40 extra chanels for free thorugh your antenna, but you still need to have the TV licence.

Most of the chanels have US TV on all the time.

OH WOW!! We don't have to have a TV license at all. Now if you don't have that box here you just don't get ANY tv unless you have a dish or the cable or that converter box. We with antennas with the box like myself I get 33 stations but, its like say channel 5 has 2 additional channels on it. Not really any better then what we had. Still not much to watch on them. Then we only get one BBC which is 13 but now they have added 13-2 to it but it is called world. Its pretty good too and it don't have all the telethons on it.

Actually the boxes make our tv's with antennas worse. The weather is bad it messed up and it has pixels in the stations. NOT good!!..laugh ..I hate these boxes so bad when we could be just using plain ole antennas but NOOOO the goverment told us this is what we have to do to save air space!..

Yeah similar thing with the digital boxes here. One bit of bad weather and the picture looks like a very old computer video game from the 70's. laugh

Saying that and despite all the shows I have listed. I do prefer to listen to the radio these days. apart from the shows I like, which I have on dvd anyway, there is nothing else that I really watch on TV.

CSI and NCIS are the only shows my mother seems to watch these days. Still, keeps her entertained. I am not a huge fan of those shows although I would happily sit and watch it.

Well, I look after my mother at my home. I own my own property, but my folks live with me at the moment. My mother has a long term ilness and my father does too. Although he works, it doesn't bring too much money in. It's a bit of a temporary thing so it really doesn't bother me. This basically means the one fight we do have is what is on the TV. Since I work long hours they get to watch what they want, although when I am home I usually will be able to get hold of the remote!

Haha, well I know what I like to watch and when so there are generally no arguments. Lately I have been watching documentaries about the Second World War in Europe. We all watch that as both sides of the family have links to it.

Anyway, that's me for the night. I have done a long shift and I have seen my friend at the pub quiz. Time for bed....goodnight

No, not every night, although I do have some weeks where I will go to different pubs for different themed nights. It usually incorporates a pub quiz though.

Have been to one today after work. It's a rock/biker pub. Today was rokaoke, karaoke with rock songs! It's a good laugh.

Anyway, good night again to you

gezasaurus, you forgot to mention the British Government and the BBC also want to extract their pound of flesh for computer users who stream tv to their desktops/laptops. grumble

Aye, this is true. Even if we managed to abolish somehow the TV licence, we would be looking at some other charge for the services! grumble

Seems very few have popped in here for a while. Things are good here thanks. We have also had some snowy weather over the Christmas period. Despite the recession people have spent huge amounts in the Christmas sales.

Well, looking forward to the new years celebrations now, together with my family and friends.

Hope all is well with you.
