What I take away from the article, and it's something I live with everyday, is that she needs to love and accept herself the way she is before others will. She needs to surround herself with people who love her and accept her the way she is without any conditions and not worry about the rest.

To some, I will forever be considered a "fat chick" but I am fine with that. I'm not healthy and happy weighing 115 lbs. and being a size 4, which is basically what my height calls for. That would require me to live my life in a way that I don't enjoy. I love experiencing food and enjoying the things I eat. Granted I need to exercise more and am working on that, but also know I am not a happy person if I am continuously worrying about what I'm eating, how many calories or fat or carbs, and whether or not I have exercised 3, 4 or 6 times this week. My point being that even though I would be at my "ideal" weight and probably no longer considered a "fat chick", I would still have issues finding someone because I would not be happy with myself and that would translate to not being my usual happy, gregarious and outgoing self. Which I believe attracts more men than being a perfect Barbie Doll.

My $.02...keep the change. drinker

P.S. Thanks for the read Myka! biggrin

well In my opinion all women are special and need to be treated as such!!! Its sounds corny but beauty is in the heart and soul of someone, and Id rather have an over wieght lady that is comfortable with herself than one thats thin and miserable cause she has to sacrifice to lose weight!! I dont give a damn what anyone says, ALL U ladies are special!!flowerforyou flowerforyou

What I am about to say comes from experience.

On January 5, 2004, I weighed in at 301LBS. Some of you know this about me (and I will share this with the rest of you) but on this day I had a Gastric By-Pass. Now, I was 29, overweight, and unhealthy. The reason I wanted the surgery was mainly due to my blood pressure being high. At 29, you shouldn't have to worry about your blood pressure.

Ok, so fast forward to now. I am 37, I weigh 180, am fit, and feel awesome. I know how it feels to live as a "big" person. And, being honest, you can love yourself (which you should) all you want. But it is no secret that overweight people do get looked at as if they have leprecy or something. I use to get the "Charles, you are awesome, funny, and cute. But if you would just lose weight, blah, blah, blah.". Hey, it hurts to hear crap like that. I loved myself, but hearing crap like that does tend to work on your pysche.

So I get what the girl writing in was talking about. And the advice given is great advice. You should love yourself. And, you should lose the weight because "you" want to. Not because someone tells you to do it.

Anyways, I love all women. Do me. Blah....blah. Goof out.laugh

Just to throw this in the mix .... What if one's problem was not being fat but being ugly instead. Would you same people who say "lose weight" also say "get a nose job"?

I hear you on this. And it's hard for us to comment, because almost everyone I've met on M2 and in life is decent looking, and a goodly portion are 'beautiful people'.

So we don't know the pain of knowing you aren't.

A nose can be fixed. But there's a lot of different characteristics and just the 'look' in general that can't. My heart goes out to someone like that.

Gilda`s advice was right on the mark. The thing is....true love felt by two people for each other is a gift (maybe even a miracle), that not everyone gets to experience in life, regardless of their self-esteem or appearance.
