I believe strongly that the bible is the word of god.

It is true.

I also believe strongly that there is no god or gods in existence.

I believe that the bible is inspired by god and prophets wrote it.

I also believe that god is a concept of man's imagination only, which had been created (god) to fill gaps in man's knowledge and his inability to predict the futre or control the weather.

I believe that if two armies are fighting against each other, then the one that wins has had god on its side.

The losing army was betting on the help of the wrong god or a non-existent god.

I believe that the one and only true god gets changed down by a completely new and different, somewhat improved one and only true god every thousand years or so.

I believe that prayer and hope that the concept of religion gives to people outweigh the bad part of people getting at each other's throats.

I believe that people will buy any impossible truths and proven falsehoods if it gives them hope. I like this, it's sort of quaint.

I am always moved when I watch British crime shows, and someone gets buried by the priest. The burial prayer hits me as an elemental force, as a basic absolute. Not so much because god has a hand in it, but because of the reverence people give to the passing of a soul from another's body and then not knowing what happens to it. The basic idea in burial prayers is that something happens to it. I find this beautiful, and please don't ask me why.

The constancy of the ritual gives the impression of an absolute, inescapable outcome. Whatever it is we don't know, but we do understand the concept of death as an absolute, whereas there is actually no proof or evidence to support that impression.

I got tired. Now you guys talk, please, if you fancy doing so.

I'm impressed by the power of ritual.
