Okay, what is it? I have Windows 98, stop snickering and read on, and the last 5 days when I turn on the computer the message comes up that it has found the hard drive and not the soft ware.(??!!).
I just ignore it and cancel the message. Any input, thanks in advance. Oh yea, please put it in as user friendly lanquage as possible. It's just not my forte.

"PCI Ethernet Controller" = network card.

If your internet still works, then it most likely is not needed.

However, if you have not changed anything on that PC, then it is quite possible that the card came loose.
Shut down the PC, unplug the power cord, open up the case and push down on all the cards slightly. (down meaning towards the main board)
If you have changed nothing, when you restart it, it'll find the correct software.

When pushing in the card make sure you are grounded or you could cause a charge that could damage your harddrive.
