Do you think subliminal messages work?

I think they could work on those who are weak minded and/or open to such. Much like hypnotism and such.

What do you think?

Isn't that what Mingle uses to keep us coming back?

Perhaps

I've experimented with it myself in marketing.

Which makes me curious, when you catch on that it is Being used, how do you feel about it?

I am not sure about subliminal messages, but human beings are highly suggestible.

What is a subliminal message?

Is it any form of communication of which a person is not consciously aware?

If so, then yes. Definitely. Some humans are very affected by techniques that they are unaware of. Anyone who has worked in sales, and paid attention, knows this.

It depends on the technique, and the circumstance.

When I was a teen I thought that the use of sexual imagery to sell non-sexual products was really scummy, but it is so common that I've eventually come to just accept it.

I expect most salespeople to be fake. It doesn't offend me when they use the most obvious techniques, such as being cheerful and friendly, and strategically expressing enthusiasm. I also expect and accept a large amount of 'careful word choice' - using words that are not quite dishonest but which lead to the desired perception.

When people use false logic to convince me of something, it really offends me, or when they physically try to block my movement, excessively try to direct my attention, or try to take advantage of basic human courtesy to get what they want.

On the surface, none of the above may sound like 'subliminal manipulation', but I have seen people using subliminal manipulation which involved all of the above.

Unfortunately, my massages are superluminal.

Apparantly they dont work according to scientific studies. It has little to do with a persons weakness of mind. Poetry is full of above and below messages that the reader interprets as they will.

I think it was said the more intelligent you are the easier it is to hypnotize you. I don't think sublimals will work, unless their aim is to piss me off.

I believe they are all around us in numbers (6 million, nearly 200 occurances in the past century, projection of right and wrong. Even the Transformers movie has a few, as even this movie makes commonplace covert activities in another country. I would imagine that where the CIA goes, they are actually seen as terrorists. James bond glorifies covert activities. If all of us knew everything they did and how different it is than the James Bond movies, we'd think differently. Terms. They aren't freedom fighters. They're insurgents. Oh and let's not forget Mainstream media, which is no longer much of a mainstream. CNN viewership dropped by 50% this year, and Fox, 17%. People are in fact, breaking free from these messages.
