My understanding is it is required to have an internet connection but you can play 'singleplayer'.

I am saving my money and getting Torchlight 2.

It's very cool.

Scenario: You start a game in single player and make it to level 10. One of your friends gets to the character select screen and sees that you have an active game, so he joins your game directly. He clicks a flag in town, which teleports him to your location. He has already completed the quest you are on, but the game reassigns the quest to him, so that he gets the experience and gold rewards for doing it. When the two of you kill a creature, different loot drops for both of you. Your loot is only visible to you. Example: You kill a boss and a magic axe drops for you and a magic belt drops for your friend. Gold drops are also individual. There is no sharing of loot or gold or potions. The only objects that are shared between players is health orbs that occasionally drop.

The feel of the game is user friendly. It's also very easy to solo or group with friends.

The only problem was it was launch day and American servers were down. I had to make a character on Asian servers just to play last night. Though my girl friends brother was on and said hello.

Though I haven't seen a game sell out like this in years. I didnt plan on buying so i didnt preorder. Stores were sold out. Luckily I found a single canceled preorder

It's definitely one of the most anticipated games in years.

Eventually I'll get a copy.

I am underwhelmed and add to it that the login servers were down half of last night . . . yea.

Too many bought it. Servers couldn't handle it. It's fun though. Looking forward to tonight.
