Youre a newbie, I know you are new because you will probably make your first post something very "PROFOUND"

Hahaha, It's funny all these rules that apply to love and lasting relationships but when push comes to shove no-one really follows them. People just want to get committed and forget being lonely and often with the drawn out side effect of suffering and extended compromise. Shrug, oh well.

I think when it comes down to it, people do what is best for them, not the relationship. depends on the level of commitment, I suppose.

Yeah, very true. I just think I had a giggle because everytime I read some "typical" or "Sunday" advice it from a new person. Expectations are often set too high and therefore people are never satisfied. Not that anyone should lower their expectations or settle, I don't mean that. But people I think, do not really know what to expect. I was married for thirteen years and we worked through a ton of issues and made it along very well, even though we are divorced for other reasons the little bickering and things were workable and we were able to compromise with different things to help our relationship.

What if you've never dated? I mean it might sound weird but I married my JR.High sweetheart the only man I was ever with for 38yrs he's gone now been single for almost 3yrs I've had a lot of fun discovered a lot about myself, but I'm tired of being alone even in a room full of people. met a lot of people on here most of them have been crack pots. I just want to meet a real man that would love to have a woman that would love them with her soul

Getting married to your childhoods sweetheart is hardly weird. A lot of people do that :) You sound pretty normal to me.

It seems old fashioned but I still meet a lot of people who marry their high school sweethearts, I'm jealous.

I was really lucky we had 38yrs together had 6 healthy kids, but he's gone now and for awhile was set adrift but after being single I've had some good times but I miss having someone for my own

If you really want to meet someone special I hope you are doing things other than coming here. There are great people here and who knows, maybe your next Mr. Right but in my experience (limited) dating sites including this one are even more hit and miss than out in the real world. Come here to make friends, have some fun, get support and maybe meet "him" but also I think you need to be going and doing things where 'live' people are. Find something you enjoy for it's own sake, photography club, cooking group, gardening etc etc You will enjoy the activity and be putting yourself in a social setting which increases the chances of meeting someone special.

I lost my sweet hubby just a few days shy of 7 years ago, for me being single is fine 99.9% of the time. I don't miss the angst or emotional ups and downs of dating. I am glad I am not always on the lookout, I think that would be tedious and frustrating as heck. So since it seems you are actively seeking, I wish you the best and hope you find your next great love soon.
