Seriously. I can't agree with this more. I understand there has been a big solar shift. Magnetically or something. I don't understand such things, but I have felt HUGE energy shifts since the New Year. Rather upsetting, but cleansing at the same time. I see things so much more clearly right now.

Took a 7 mile solo hike yesterday to clear my head. It was nice.

YES! The answers are always right there it just takes a while to see them through all the white noise of life.

I did burn a candle for New Year's for some changes I wanted. But, it was low key. I'm doing more spirit communication this year and things are opening up fast. I am working on staying protected and grounded. And, balanced. And, healthy.

I broke up with my boyfriend and plan to have a dating free year to concentrate on my spiritual studies and improve my health. Feels like the right choice for me now. Feels good.

Nope, I don't think they'll do you any good anyway. It means messing around with you're own lessons in life (and those of someone else if you try to bind them by magick), Cosmic laws etc etc
If you want to find love and get money, you gotta find it in yourself to change the things that stop you from getting it.
Not any sooner than that will / can a spell benefit you.

Okay when it comes to magick, it's only going to be as good as your will + intent + focus. Also, your energy base/what you connect to for what you're working with (I mean more by way of external than astrologically speaking) will matter too. It's real, it just can't be recorded scientifically because science is only able to record physical things in a physical world due to it's perimeters. "Not believing in" it will still affect you sort of like how you'd have creationists not believing in evolution but it'll still end up affecting them.

Personally, I've had stuff work, not work, backfire and also kick off unexpected stuff as well. There is a level to this that have a trial and error feel to it simply because you don't always (and honestly can't always) know the fullness of the consequences to the stuff you send out. That's simply because you can only be aware of so much based on your individual positioning. It's all sorta like newton's 3rd law with how the karma for it will work. There's equal and opposite action and reaction but in the case of karma, it's also a matter of "seen karma" and "unseen karma". That's because there's a general chain (the unseen) and an individual chain (your personal "general chain") that gets affected. Part of being functional in this craft (or any other craft really) will be your ability to properly work through the chain as to not disrupt nature and that which has naturally already been set into motion.

There's also a huge matter of lacking explanations in a lot of the newer angled stuff coming out. (Actually you can probably put it back to crowley's bastardizations made things skewed and it sorta just carried forward in presentation for a lot of the newer angled stuff.) Things like karma and actual explanations of good/right and evil/left in action (which is entirely central and important) aren't very in depth and that puts some practitioners in a gray space (occasionally even in an unexpected black space) with what they'll work with magick for.
People also don't seem to understand that you're not supposed to use any form of grimoire as a literal consistent "how to" but more or less you are supposed to maneuver your own version as you grow. The mechanics taught through the examples in the book are guidelines. Keep in mind, when you go by the book you're also running on someone else's Will + Intent + Focus which means that you're sending their being energy instead of gaining the time and respect for your own. Since this is all an individual connection then you're greatest asset to growing in form is how you connect back. You also run the risk of intermixing your being with the author's fate when you start to work by their means. The general perimeters apply: Deities (although offerings can begin to vary due to your connection to them), directions, elements, what rocks do, basic aspects of circle casting, spirits and their natures all do somewhat ride legit as a "to follow" but the connective means you create is supposed to be build and formulated by you based on the general mechanics which will be in the undertones of the grimoire itself.

I actually read your post yesterday and it got me thinking about some things as well.

I think the difference between a spell caster and someone who casts a spell or two is practice and calling.

For me, being a witch (which not every spell caster is) is my calling. I can't NOT be a witch. You could compare it to a musician. Someone who learns to play an instrument and does so for a bit may enjoy trying it out and playing a song they learn. But, they are not driven to a life of music. They put the music down when they get tired of it and it's not something they devote their life to learning and doing.

A real spell caster is a spell caster because they never stop learning and practicing. A real spell caster not only understands the mechanics of spell craft, but also continually learns through doing it. Mistakes are made. There is success and failure. And, through every success and every failure new lessons are learned to improve the craft. It's experience and practice that leads to a real spell caster. I know so many people who buy a spell kit, try it, wait a day and then give up because it didn't work. Or so they think. (Don't misunderstand me, I love spell kits, but you have to know what to do with it).

A real spell caster will have some knowledge of all the different kinds of magic practiced and, probably has dabbled in all of them to some extent. The spell caster then learns which form of magic works best for him/her and continues to practice. It takes time and some money to invest in the Craft. Just like if you were a musician or artist. You buy your supplies and get busy crafting.

Been practicing for over 15yrs doing ritual magick, divination, mediumship, evocation/invocation and sigil magick. I believe every single person casts spells every day with their words and intentions. Some just call it by other names (prayer, daydreaming, wishful thinking).
