she was worried about not being to go to my moms for Thanksgiving and being stuck there but the nurses told her she was free to get out for a few hours 2-3 times a week,so she's already telling my mom what to cook for her

yeah they finally are.it's been a rough month for her.i'm just hoping she actually listens to the dr's and does her physical therapy.she was stubborn about it while she was in the hospital

Sounds like a good plan. Also go to the Hospital and ask for an application for a one time Hill Burton grant to cover up to 80% of her catastrophic hospitalization care above and beyond her insurance coverage. She may have to apply for your state medical aid program but often doing a medical spin down your sis will qualify especially if she is emancipated on her own earnings which went to zero unless this is a workman's compensation claim which would be hard to prove given the diagnosis. Then ask the hospital to waiver up to 10% on a financial hardship basis. Then request in writing to set up an interest free repayment plan spread out over 60 months before 30 days pass or discharge. Some hospitals actually start collections with in 30 days before discharge. If your sister is a Minor she could also apply for a Katie Becket wavier to get your state medical assistance program. You usually have to talk to a supervisor for this kind of assistance and having financial documentation in hand will speed the process. Hope this is helpful.
