I know when we're in a relationship we have pet names for our partner. But when you get a message here and first words are hi baby, what do you do. I just automatically delete it without even finish reading it. So is this how most people approach you these days, or is it just me?

British women aren't usually that familiar in a first message. Not on dating sites. The only time that it bothered me was this one that said virtually nothing else. She was just weird. Only date in my life that I've ever canceled. That was back in the days when I was a dating site n00b and when I cared about trying to build a connection online first. I had been getting a lot of chat from the women but nothing else and when I whined about it to this one that sent the hey babes messages she said that she would date me. She did come across as being a bit desperate and she told me that she couldn't go out because of "blackouts" (which she failed to explain) and she wanted me to just come to her house for dinner. She lived in the back of beyond and it would have been difficult for me to get there and to get home again and the picture on her profile didn't exactly turn me on. I just felt that I would have been putting myself in an awkward situation by going to a woman's house when she didn't look like my type and her one liner messages made her sound retarded. I guess that I would have gone if I had fancied her though and I have had a date like that since with one that looked quite nice and sent weird one liners and called me babe all the time.

I don't know, haven't gotten any messages that have addressed me with some sort of pet name.
Kinda feel left out....

Sometimes I'm not sure how to react to it. I was chatting with a twenty one year old the other week and she kept replying but wasn't saying all that much. Then she called me "hun" in one of her messages and I didn't know if that was supposed to be a signal that she was getting bored and wanted me to get more flirty with her or what.
