This is what I found about the issue.
"First make sure that your system is not set to run in Debug mode.

Open Windows System Configuration (msconfig) -> Boot -> Advanced options. The Debug option should not be selected.

If this will still not help then you can try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the older 6.1.0.129 version using this msi-installer:

http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_6.1.0.129.msi

After installing this version, make sure to disable the Automatic updates."

I stopped using Skype years ago, so IDK the issues with the new versions.

Hope it helps a bit?!

Aanil is right. U could get a "netlingo" book with many acronyms or do a simple search on the web. There's a lot of them!

On the Skype program, the consensus is the new version is causing problems 4 many people and to uninstall the new version and install the old one.

To that I would add, use a program like Revo Unistaller (free) to remove the Skype program with better results, and update ur video driver and webcam driver.

If u want more info, and if ur running Windows, and want more 2 do, press ctrl+shift+esc to bring up Windows Task Manager. There go to SERVICES. I have 26 services running on my computer. Only 26. If u have more than 26, that maybe y the program is crashing. I said maybe: having never seen ur computer, this is just another suggestion and another possible cause of issues with the Skype program.

You might want to check your upload and download speeds. All the bells and whistles are great if you're service can keep up. Clear your memory caches in your browsers as well.
There's a whole laundry list but don't get overwhelmed. Lots of seemingly 'BIG' problems are often small ones.
Btw...what Operating system are you running?

Might be fair to mention that it may not be Skype but her camera that is the issue. How old is the camera? Maybe you need new drivers.

not sure why anyone uses skype anymore. yes its good but not if you have to buy credits when there are so many other similar things out there like oovoo or viber.

The problem MIGHT not be Skype's fault - make sure that the drivers for your webcam are properly installed and updated. If you need to update them:
Go to your computer's Control Panel (I'm assuming you're running a version of Windows).
Search for "Device Manager" if it's not immediately available.
In the Device Manager, scroll down until you find your webcam hardware (it should be under "Imaging Devices").
Right-click to "Update Driver Software", or try Disabling and re-Enabling it. You can also go to Properties and check the Drivers tab and make sure they've been updated since you installed the webcam.

Check minimum requirements for your hardware and operating system for the brand of camera.

and make sure you skype with the object of your attention BEFORE you meet!
