i love this line: (was in the fight scene)
she means it in the context of the scene
he asks her to have an unemotional, rational discussion
and she is offended by his lack of apathy just because she has emotions

Not sure of which movie it is but the guy in this case is correct.

Having said that, there is nothing wrong with expressing emotion, just not when it needs to be in a rational/important issue/decision.

When people get emotional about something their ability to make rational decisions/arguments/etc has a very strong tendency to fail. Hence why you often have to calm someone down emotionally before any sort of progress can be made.

TL;DR Listen to our brains, our hearts are dumb.

Well it's not at all hard to take a deep breath and state how you feel from your heart. Your brain will only give generalizing statements.

I happen to view the opposite, the heart is smart. The brain is too confined and complex an organ that defies a sense of personal connection to human beings. The heart is the center of how we react and respond, not the brain.

I can see where you are coming from.

Think of the people who rush off and marry too quickly only to divorce a short time later. Or the crimes where someone in a relationship gets cheated on, only to murder in a state of emotion insanity. Both extreme examples of course but they happen all to often.

Politicians have been using the method of invoking strong emotions from people like fear or the desire to help those in need to get elected for ages.
Even salesmen have been working peoples emotions for ages to get the sale.

Learning the balance of the two is appropriate. Depending on what the situation is.

I believe some people have self control and would not go to extremes such as those but I'm not discounting them as unfortunate factors. Too much emotion isn't pertinent.

In marketing strategies it's mainly a pleasure or pain elevation perspectives in terms of personal investment. Marketers play to those two regiments, as well as the demographics of ages, cultural, city/state, short attention span, what works or what doesn't based on feedback or word of mouth. They listen to how an audience responds to whatever new prototype is put out there. Emotion plays a sole decision in what most people buy. It doesn't matter if it's essential or basic. Marketers don't care. Does it heal or give instant gratification? That's the key protocol they follow.
