how to block:

If they're coming at you with a direct punch or other attack, don't seek to absorb the blow at a right angle. Rather deflect the attacking arm/leg. This way, the force experienced by your deflecting appendage is small while the overall attack vector points at a sufficiently wide angle to dodge the blow. As a sidenote, even if a deflecting attack still hits, it will have less force since some of the momentum was absorbed by the deflecting move. Additionally, the psychological impact of a successful deflection on the attacker weakens his/her confidence in their assault, while simultaneously boosting yours.

If the attacker has a weapon such as a knife or blunt object (stick, etc...) of course seek to get out of range. if that's impossible, quickly move in to block the attacker's arm at the forearm or closer. Angular momentum is far less prominent closer to the point of rotation (forearm/elbow area), resulting in less impact to your blocking arm/hand.

Note: remember weak points such as fingers, wrists, elbows, nose, eyes and throat. these areas cannot be "made tougher" from training and are perpetual vulnerabilities on even the strongest attacker. Also note the benefit of leverage on attacker's fingers or wrists. Even the smallest/weakest person has sufficient strength to twist or even break a finger/wrist of the strongest attacker, especially if using both hands and their body weight/momentum. the consequent disability (not to mention pain) will dissuade virtually any assault.

I hope this has been helpful.

You can 'Block' email, IM's and Nudges.
Each of those come with a 'Block' function.

To the right of their picture on their profile
there is a 'Report This User' link if you feel
harassed in any way.

Yes.
Blocking does not prevent anyone from viewing profiles.
