Saying that it doesn't matter implies that you're indifferent to it. Like saying that it's in spite of their age. That can be like settling. If I said to a woman that her age doesn't matter I don't think that it would be very complimentary and it would be like saying that her weight doesn't matter.
It can be like that but usually it's something that people factor into their preferences, whether they want someone younger, older, or "age appropriate". |
