Thoughts tonight as the capital of Vanuatu pop 66,000 people get slammed by severe tropical cyclone Pam after intensifying to category five.

The cyclone is moving slowly on a southerly track towards the Pacific nation, with winds of up to 230 kilometres per hour.

The storm is expected to produce winds of about 280kph near its centre when it passes east of Vanuatu's capital, Port Vila, on Friday night.

Forecasters said Pam was the strongest cyclone to form near Vanuatu since 1987, when cyclone Uma caused widespread destruction and loss of life.

This now looks like its going to be a direct hit in less than 3 hours time....OMG..
