Do you believe in a Soul-Mate?

What are soul-mates? how can people have soul-mates when very intelligent people like Dawkins tell us Man has no soul?

Do you think the whole concept is romantic? If someone doesn't believe in Soul-Mates does that mean that person isn't romantic?

What do you think?

Thank you

Yes

I happen to agree with him.

Do you think the whole concept is romantic?

Basically, it's just a poetic way of saying that a person can have a find a partner that will accept them for who and what they are and as they are.

If someone doesn't believe in Souls-Mates does that mean that person isn't romantic?

No, but it may mean they don't have an understanding of the poetic nature of the term.

Science and/or so called very intelligent people don't have all the answers. They pretend to, and seem convinced they do, but they simply don't.
They say something is bull crap when they can't explain something. How arrogant is that? People who lack understanding tell us that something doesn't exist because they don't understand it?

Soul mates do exist. No they're not just a romantic notion, although they may be to some who don't know what soul mates really are.

People that are extremely rational and logical and discard anything they don't understand or that can't be explained by science, usually are not in touch with the other side of themselves. Their senses, intuition etc.
What is called "Living from the head".

Funny enough such ppl put all their faith, convictions and trust in man-made machines, totally discarding the fact that the most delicate, fine-tuned 'machine' is the human body, not man-made machines.

i think there are people that can be capable of fostering a deep connection and understanding with another on all levels. that being said, the relationship is still not without its challenges. and i doubt the ratio is one:one.

is that considered a soul-mate? maybe that is what we want to call it. but i don't think romance has too much to do with it. that's my two cents worth...

Thanks!

I once heard a guy say that the concept of a Soul-Mate is ridiculous. His girl friend replied "You're just not romantic enough to understand it." and the guy said "I don't live in a fairy tale."

And I couldn't tell which one to root for, lol

being with a "soul-mate" does not necessarily have to be a romance...IMO...

I agree.

Yet, finding a Soul-Mate (if there is such a thing and why not?) can quickly propulse the relationship in romantic territory.
And what's wrong with a little fantasy? winking

No I do not use term soulmate. human beings are capabe of loving and being loved by many in their lifetimes . Now having said that I will also say there may be times in your life when you feel a very strong attraction to another human being or ta feeling of comfort or contentment being around them and this may be a friend or coworker or a lover...

Hate this phone not gonna try to edit now from a psych perspective this may be due to combination of factors such as a laugh that sounds like your grandfather or mannerisms or tone voice that remind you even at subconcious level of family or someone you knew. Some might say it is an old soul you once knew in past life and that there are still things you must learn from each other in this one. some will say this is all just hokey BS and I suspect more men than women would tend to agree

A soul mate is just someone of which you are "in sync". You think alike and respond in similar ways. You empathize in emotional situations. You are also in love.

It's all just part of being the human animal. The opposite would be "nothing in common".

because we live in reality...lol...that's why it's so easy to buy into a fantasy...to the detriment of many...
not to put a damper on things, don't get me wrong...injecting fairy tale moments are great, of course... but it's not sustainable in itself...
mutual attraction is a great thing... but a "soul-mate" goes far more deeply beyond that...and some "soul-mates" may not necessarily be a romantic partner...

Do you believe in a Soul-Mate?

Not really.
I believe some people are more compatible than others, requiring less effort in learning communication compatibility.

What are soul-mates?

A "soul-mate" is a shortcut label people use to express they are mostly ruled by their emotions and therefore appetites rather than any adult decision making ability.

how can people have soul-mates when very intelligent people like Dawkins tell us Man has no soul?

By defining "soul mate" in a way that incorporates a secular component.
Like "we just 'clicked' I've never felt this way about anybody, they're my soul mate."

Do you think the whole concept is romantic?

No.
I think it's sad, really.

If soul mates exist then either:

1. some kind of god like entity created people for each other but in their seemingly infinite hatred of mankind they separated the souls and hid them from each other to suffer and learn and grow apart and without each other, making people feel incomplete without even knowing it, for large portions of their life, constantly keeping the mate out of reach forcing people to struggle in a continuously desperate search for them, and even then not everyone finds their soul mate.

or

2. the universe is completely random, a portion of yourself is immortal, has always been around, and will always be around, making this existence and life completely pointless, just some mud that gets stuck on the soul for a few years before it can escape and go back to exploring an infinite universe, or is new but goes back into the recycling bin at physical death to come back out with some pointless mud on it again for a few more years, over and over and over and over for no real purpose.

If someone doesn't believe in Soul-Mates does that mean that person isn't romantic?

No. It doesn't mean that person isn't romantic.
Romance is expressing depth of feelings through symbols and rituals and other communication that you know (or at least hope) the other person will understand and find meaningful.
