This does not happen "at first sight"...maybe if that first look took a long time to finish...

Correct. Again, this is because of how I define the word love.

I HAVE had all sorts of instant AFFINITIES for other people, and instant lust (of course).

And by 'lust,' I am by the way, not referring as some do, exclusively to crude, mindless, objectification-based sex drive stuff. I'm referring to instant desires of all kinds, including the powerful desire to just dance with a woman, or to talk with her, or to simply be the focus of her attention. Those are all forms of LUST.

I think one of the things that most younger people HAVE to learn at some point in their lives, is to separate out their feelings and urges of the moment, from the romantic/magic idea that a strong desire or feeling indicates anything other than exactly what it is.

Too many people go through intense pain, and even destroy the most valuable relationships of their entire lives, all because they fail to distinguish between hungers or desires of the moment, and what love actually is.

That's why I, like a fair number of older people, actually OPPOSE the concept of love at first sight. Not because I wouldn't love for it to be true, but because I KNOW that it's false, and dangerous to believe in.
