Sorry Beach, but I have to disagree with location of the most amazing girl.
Just a different point of view, my friend.happy

what do y'all think about long distance relationships

They're a strain on real relationships, and a hindrance to new ones.

would you do it ?

Maybe.
Do you consider cyber sex a "relationship?"
I do.
I'd type pump n dump.

have you done it ?

Sure. I've made stupid mistakes in the past.

how did that work out for you ?

How do you think?
I'm on a dating site forum.

i think it gives you both a chance to really get to know each other before meeting.

I think it's just the opposite.
As soon as you start interacting with an individual, you are in a relationship with them.

Unless you are in a work relationship based solely on information exchange, you have to spend face to face time with them.

You can't develop healthy communication without being around them.

Most communication does not come from the lips or fingers.

So you can get to "know" them factually at best.

They tell you online "OMG! I love cats! They're so cute and soft and fluffy and fun to play with!"
So maybe you like cats too. And you bond over your love of kitten videos on the internet. And you develop this great relationship online because you have so much in common! You feel you truly know them because of that one moment of bonding that leads to more because they feel they can open up to you since they trust you with what they love!

Then you meet. You date. You go over to their house and they've got one cat. Pshew! Only one, you thought maybe because they loved cats so much there was a chance they might have lied and had 30 of them.

But they've only got one so good. They must be normal.

Then you notice while watching a movie...they're dry humping the cat in their lap, and using their licked finger to stimulate the cats anus.
And they're doing this all unaware that they ARE doing it while engrossed in the movie.

What do you do?

They've been honest. They love cats. They're enjoying playing with them.

Do you say "well, they told me the truth all the way back then online, so I just have to accept it."

You don't know them. You've just built up an idea of them based on not getting accurate feedback on your interpretation of them.

Talking online, a "relationship" based online, just leads to more and more miscommunication.

You need the feedback of body language and direct interaction.

Otherwise the relationship just becomes solely what you delude yourself into believing it is.

Sitting online for a long time just talking is great if you never ever meet.

But if you want a relationship with a person, don't keep it online, don't keep yourself distant with communication that is separated and distanced by impersonal technology.

You want a relationship based on black text? Or life?

Long distance relationships are bad.

The longer they go on, the more they are purely mental and emotional masturbation fantasy's that will fail in real interaction.

If you want an experiment read every single stephen king novel.

After each book go ahead and write him a letter based on your impression and ideas and feelings the book elicited.

Then go and meet him at a convention or something, professing your love for him because you "know him so well!"

See how that works out.

You get out of it what your willing to put into it....
it aint easy....but it is very rewarding....

Just as in real life...if your the type of person that comes up with a idea or goal and doesn't see it through to fruition.....then this is not for you...

Most of them are scammers

Well u always hav an option to Skype to check them out,,, long distance relationship is a good option I prefer it

just cause you skype with them does not take them out of the scammer area , just shows that the picture they posted was there own
or someone else they know that you are now skyping with : )

best wishes on your hunt

Well what I mention that Skype is an option to relate the profile pic with person,, after that there r options to check out and explore,,, well no one commit really in a hurry,, even if u meet a person how can u bet that whatever he is telling is not a bluff,, so better to know,, have video chat,, tease,,, check out,,, test patient,, and many more compatibilities points before meeting:smile:

I've had a couple of LDRs that worked pretty well. They didn't end up in marriage but all relationships don't end up in marriage.

Hate to break it to you guys/gals but sometimes when you see a remarkably pretty on line sweetie they are a paid performer for Skype purposes. They have been coached with details about you from a troll scammer/pimp who had "uglies" talking to you and now they are getting ready to reel you in. DO NOT; I REPEAT, DO NOT let your guard down and allow someone ways to take advantage of you.

Sadly it has also gotten to be a snotty party game for bored office workers/college students who joke about the latest chump that is supplementing their low paying, actually sometimes high paying or over paid office job or parents/government footing their tuition, at your expense, and the bosses while they play.

EVEN if you Skype with someone send no money, travel tickets or gifts to someone you have not met in person.

It's usually just a fake pic of a hottie, and a guy sending you a message.. It's crap, but you learn to sense the bull..

^^^This hit a sore spotgrumble ...Not all hotties are fake Mikey!pitchfork ...I think your crystal ballz could use a dusting....tongue2 ....I'm not kidding either...

Yes, my ballz could use some polishing..
