All My Friends ( Who've Come To Visit Me This Year )


All the many friends who've come to visit with me this year,
Who've shared their warmth, have touched the sun, they and I,
And we've recalled our slower summer Sundays - and a year,
Those many closer, dearer moments in memories fleeting by,

I Am the closer friend to the fallen Saints and the Angels they say,
Those aglow who've cast their spells to shadow crawlers in their wells,
Those who've enslaved whole civilizations in a day - where they pray,
Those gasping, living wasps in fearful flight where the darker wolf dwells,

All the many friends who've come to visit me this year -
Own my undying honor and my deepest respect,
Set against the warmth of the sun, without provision to endear,
without the need for sadness nor fear, that untimely, hurtful neglect.
