do you release your arrow in the sky and wonder where it falls or take aim and hit your target?

Not a very good Archer. I try to aim and hit my target. Unfortunately I'm still trying to get my pin sight sighted in. I keep shooting over or under...slaphead

I say just keep firing til ya hit something.

Then you can say "Yep, I hit that."

This is a true story. A few weeks ago I went to Luckenbach with some friends and took some of my pistols, including a new Ruger target model.

We laid out the guns and ammo on an outside table at my sister's yard and I shot a test round at the target hitting it EXACTLY dead center. I then let my friends and family shoot the different guns. Finally, I pulled out my trusty Colt 45 ACP and shot the bullseye out of the target causing it fall (it had a screw in the center of the bullseye holding it up).

Obviously, this is not the end of the story.

The next week I got a bow for my birthday from Bass Pro Shop. I have no bow experience. The two "bow experts" set up the bow for me adding sights, leveling, cut the arrows to length, etc. We then went into the archery room to fire some test arrows and see how the bow "fit". From the first shot, I outshot both of the "bow experts".

This must be the type of archer I am!

My Dad taught me never to waste bullets, and that goes for arrows too. Daryl Dixon would be proud. :)

You should always aim for the bullseye. Now, if you have problems consistently finding the bullseye do not be afraid to ask your partner for help. Otherwise you both may have a less than satisfying archery session.

I used to be quite good with a pistol ... then I had my eyes lasered ... big mistake.

The untold part of the bow story I posted above is that neither of the two "bow experts" were that good.laugh

Well, I was good at archery, but it''s been a while. My family has always gone hunting and my dad was special forces. He started teaching me how to shoot when I was a boy. I deadly with either a pistol or a rifle.
