In a bizarre and terrifying incident, a 24-year-old man has died on a Dublin-bound flight after "running amok," and biting another passenger. The crew described him as being, "extremely violent."

The Aer Lingus flight took off from Lisbon, Portugal and was en route to Dublin, Ireland.

All of a sudden a man "ran amok" across the cabin, bit a fellow passenger and had to be restrained by the crew. He injured "one or two passengers."

The crew had to broadcast an emergency 'Pan Pan' message three times and told air traffic controllers about the incident, before making an unscheduled landing at Cork airport.

After being restrained, the man fell unconscious. He soon lost his pulse and was pronounced dead at Cork airport. There was a doctor onboard, but he could not help.

The body of the 24-year-old has been transported to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination, the Irish Mirror reported.

The passenger is reported to have been flying on his own and he may have been studying in Ireland.

Aer Lingus has issued a statement about the incident, which read: "Aer Lingus flight EI 485 Lisbon to Dublin, diverted into Cork due to a medical emergency on board."

"There were 168 guests and 6 crew members on board. The flight landed safely at 17:40 local time." The passengers were taken to Dublin by bus, The Guardian reported.

Comment: This incident joins our list of 'zombie attacks' in recent years. People are starting to literally consume each other...

It's curious that the man on the Dublin-bound flight went berserk just before dying, as if whatever had taken control of his mind - a parasite, virus, or whatever - dictated this last effort from his, perhaps to replicate itself before its host died...

While there may end being a more mundane explanation for this man's behavior and death, we note that this is yet another weird air travel incident in a year where aircraft accidents and mishaps are piling up high...

Being part Irish myself, someone may have made fun of Guiness beer, and in my family, that would lead to fisticuffs. (lol)

Should be an interesting autopsy. Look for tox screen results of maybe 'bath salts' or possibly angel dust (PCP). If the guy is like 120 pounds soaking wet and it takes a couple beefy guys to take him down, I'd go PCP.

If he's screaming about devils, Satan, end of the world, etc. I'd go bath salts.

Just having a couple pre flight cocktails doesn't normally lead to carnivorous behavior followed by unexpected death.

Will be tough to find the follow up story in future though as airlines try to bury stuff like this.

I don't know.

I ran across
https://www.yahoo.com/travel/man-dies-on-aer-lingus-1281133857783862.html

this morning and from that there was:

"Police also arrested a 44-year-old Portuguese woman who allegedly had four pounds amphetamine on the flight. It is believed that she was traveling with the Brazilian passenger."

It wouldn't surprise me that the guy was high on something.
war on drugs = war on zombies?

..."aer lingus" always makes me laugh, though.
Is that a fancy oral sex position?
