Is abortion a good alternative?

To what? War? Incarceration? High fructose corn syrup? Starvation? Global warming? Politicians and taxes?

is it beneficial for a woman and our nation?

IMO it's highly beneficial for people to show they aren't an extension of the state.

The purpose of someones life is not to be beneficial to the nation.
Nations exist for the benefit of people, people don't exist for the benefit of nations.

Exercising personal choice and freedom is a great way of showing that.

And doing that is beneficial to establishing individual identity, which is beneficial to a woman since it can help keep her from being marginalized (except by nations, who marginalize everyone they aren't immediately focused on gaining votes from).

I don't give much of a crap if something is beneficial to our nation, only if it's causing harm, which translates into more taxes from me.

If something is beneficial to the nation, the government then asks for more tax revenue and forces everyone to do what they say is beneficial.

If something is detrimental, the nation asks for more tax revenue to pay people to force others to stop it or control it.

I have less of a problem paying people to stop others from doing stuff than paying people to force me to do something.
