I'm certain that the victims of 1st-Degree Murder didn't want death.

3 things -

quicker - court trials
faster - time it takes after conviction
more often

op at this time... very rarely do they put people to death ...
but sure stay on death row a long time ...
I say either pick one or the other ... becouse at least life with no parole... they don't get out ... but death row seems they can have a appeal and sometimes get off... and being on death row prisoners can only associate with others ones death role ... while others with life can mingle with people more ... so I believe life with no parole is the best way to keep them in ... death with no parole is good ... but you don't get that all the time ... and not always a sure thing ...

How many could possibly be innocent & in jail... In my country? laugh
We don't have enough prisons or enough States that have capital punishment. And few crimes is it even suggested.
Plus they sit on death row for 7 yrs, after conviction (& have a better life than everyone else in prison).
And the taxpayers pay for it.

On premeditated murder.. yes.. if you have the time to plan and then carry out the killing of another person, in my opinion you deserve the death penalty.

Same for terroristic crimes against unsuspecting people. If you plan and carry out these type crimes and people are killing by your actions, in my opinion you show be put to death for that.

When I am President.. There will be alot more crimes eligible for capital punishment.

Government should not have that power at all.
Except for the military.
And then only in times of declared war, against a specifically defined foreign or invading group.
Where it should be absolute, merciless, and done until no one of that group is left.

But against its own population, government should not have the option of killing.
Citizens should always have the option of armed violence against its government, though.

When the two are switched, you know something is very wrong, IMO.

I don't trust government with my health care due the the FDA or things like putting fluoride in the water, or pretty much forcing inoculations and insurance that can't be used.
I don't trust it with my food by giving money to megafarm corporations.
I don't trust government with my home and constantly higher property taxes used for education which is turning kids into functional retards.
I don't trust government to keep water clean, having direct experience of water pollution studies being thrown out or ignored for campaign contributions.

Government screws up and abuses the things that keep me alive, basic things, why would I want government to have the direct power over my life.

I believe human life is precious,, so I am against any planned and premeditated taking of human life

that would include planning a time and means to end one,,,

Sometimes I think that no one has the right to take someone's life , but when it's about certain crimes , like terrorism and killing for mean reasons ( raping for example ) , I believe that executing the criminal more than once isn't even enough !

as a survivor of rape,, I wouldn't support his death either

but I understand the appeal,,

its just against my personal values

I will admit that I have mixed feeling on this subject and they both extreme.

On one hand I am against it.. Totally because I believe that each and every life is precious..

Then on the other hand when someone is so evil that there is no hope for a change in their core then yes I am all for it. Then I would wish it would be quickly over and done with.

Yes I have seen this type of evil in some people.

I am certainly glad that God previously approved of capital punishment for 1st-Degree murderers (Exodus 21:14).
God would not approve of sin.

I think death is too much of an easy get-out clause. Slow torture would be far more effective. This means they're very much physically present, while getting what they deserve. devil

also for those who strike a parent or curse them

but my opinion on taking that authority upon ourselves still stands so long as we are not 'without sin' ourselves
