I guess some can, I however can't. I'm a one-man woman and I want a one-woman man only. I'm greedy. And he can be too, cos I got a lot to give :)

Sure it is possible. It's happened to me and when it did I came to the conclusion that I had to figure out which "love" was actually real. That can be tough to do. However, aren't choices like this supposed to be?

Thing is people today simply fall for someone way too easily. Maybe the relationship they are currently in is not working out well, or they realize that relationships DO actually require work. So they meet someone else, are attracted to this new person and decide that they are in love. Therefore they are "in love" with two people at once and have to decide what to do. Majority of the time they will go for the new thing because they feel that that person is truly "the one" for them. And they might be.

Anyways, being with one person is what it is all about. Two women at the same time would require so much more stamina from me. tongue2

No it is not. You may feel great "feelings" for two or more people. But to actually fall in "love" there would only be room for one. Not saying you'll only ever love just one person your entire life... but only one at a time at the very least. And if it's actually "love" then yes only one in your life. For love itself doesn't go away, doesn't fade, doesn't change. You may have great feelings for one or more people, but you'll only actually "love" one person. These other "feelings" great as they may be will change, but love never will.

That is only YOUR opinion.
Mormons have a long history of polygamy and can have 3,4 or more wives.I'm sure they feel they love them or wouldn't marry them.

So in my opinion, most of us don't love more then one person at a time because our "beliefs" condition us that once we find someone we love, we don't "look" for anyone else.
If we didn't have these "beliefs" I don't see why you couldn't find more then one person to love.

Partially agree. The mormon example is invalid as far as I'm concerned. Marrying more than one doesn't mean you love them. The tradition probably came forth from heaving stronger offspring, which is also stupid, cos then you need the women to have babies from plural men, not the other way round. Very patriarchal.
And maybe they simply have a surplus of women.

Also in many traditions where men have plural wives, like the harem, they don't even sleep with all of them. Often in African countries it's status only and purely practical cos the women work the field. Means he does have free labour. The woman gets the wonderful status of being married to a man who can afford plural wives, which would equal wealth (and status). Again, patriarchal, nothing to do with love.

Furthermore, there's different tiers of love. I loved my husband, but not nearly as deeply as I loved my ex. And I'm quite sure I am able to love even deeper now, cos I've grown so much.

I do think it's kind of personal, but I still do seriously question that someone who claims to love plural others does have the same intense deep love in his heart for them all that another person has who falls deeply for one partner and loves him/her to death.
Luckily you cannot measure love.

That is not love. That is infatuation.

So I take it if you have more then one child then second one would only be considered "infatuation"?
Don't try to falsely say
"thats different"
It is certainly possible to love more then one person at a time.
Most just don't TRY to love more then one MATE.
love triangles are usually disastrous because the one in the middle can't decide which one they love more. JMO

Assuming you mean "fall" and "time" it depends on what you think love is.

If you believe in the biological process of pair bonding, then no.
The naturally forming emotional associations for one would interfere with the other, and if you kept trying with the second it would interfere with the first.
You would never really get past the first attraction/lust stage with either until you burned out and wanted to get away from both.

If you believe in the Disney version, then yes, because love is an invisible magical creature you have no control over and it capriciously and whimsically makes you fall into love with whatever it thinks is best for you based on your plot hierarchy status.

If you believe in the socialistic idea where you can love everybody kumbaya equally forever and ever then yes. It just requires a touch of delusion and rationalizing mixed into the special kool aid.

natural??
There is nothing "natural" for a man and woman to be together for life.
The biological process of bonding is for reproduction purposes. In almost all species, the male has many bonding's with different females to promote the survival of the species.

Getting back to reality...We(meaning most in THIS society) are taught and conditioned(brainwashed) that it is taboo to be with more then one mate at a time and we are told that IF you love someone you will be committed only to that one.

But if you can love a wife, and two children, why not just love two women?

Your view of "love" is limited to your mind and how it has been conditioned by society.

This "interference" is only created by what you THINK is right or wrong based on your "beliefs".

Well, ppl here that have read my stuff over the years know I'm no fan of monogamy, although I chose to be so myself. I don't believe in what I call "forced monogamy" (based on society's expectations).
But ... the love for a child cannot ever be compared to the love for a partner. Apples and pears. Do you have children? Then you should know.

Also comparing monogamy to loving plural partners at the same time is apples and pears. No one mentioned loving one person for the rest of your life.
