I had a girlfriend that played the violin very well.

I always respected her for that.

Yeah, I know, I'm leaving this WIDE open. Enjoy

I play guitar, fiddle and sometimes penny whistle..I bought a new guitar not long ago,so have been playing that a lot. One of my old friends sent me a carbon fiber bow,and I'm starting to really like it. I play traditional music, and make up my own stuff.
One of the things that I like about traditional music,is that you can go anywhere, and usually find something that you know in common, because a lot of the old tunes are passed down through the generations.
When I was in New Orleans,I played with a group of locals, and was asked by one of my friends how it was that we new a lot of the same music. I told him that traditional tunes are sometimes hundreds of years old,and they are traded, and taught to anyone who has an interest

I play acoustic guitar (I'm not saying I play well). I tried learning piano several years ago but when I moved I had to sell it. I used to play violin and was in the school orchestra in high school. I played pretty well. I still have a violin but I haven't played it in years.

Wow! An entire day and no smart azz posts.

Hmmm. That's weird. I expected to get skin flute or something else like that from the peanut gallery.

I've always wanted to learn how to play the guitar or a smaller version of it and practice on my camping trips.

But, I have a tough time keeping rhythm. I can't sing either. It sounds great in my mind but when I open my mouth only crap comes out. Kind of like the rest of my communications I guess. laugh

Many people will say their not good at Karaoke. But, those same people listen to me and feel MUCH better about their signing. drinker

I would also like to play the piano. That would be awesome to go into a piano bar and play for everybody.

Man, I always envision myself singing and playing for people but am pretty shy when it comes to that, I would record myself playing and singing and thing, holy crap I sound horrible. I've had people say I have a decent singing voice though. You should most definitely get a guitar! I haven't been playing as much lately because I've been busy but it's so satisfying to learn a new song!

You should drag that violin out from the closet, and make a little noise with it! A good simple tune that you can play by ear is called "midnight on the water" The studio version by David Bromberg is the one I like best, but there are other versions. It is in waltz time, and a very nice easy tune to play.....
