Yes and no. The good side of this has been where underfunded and under-supplied police forces, have been able to finally acquire the technology they need to do their jobs correctly, in a world where the bad guys are allowed to have all manner of weaponry and body armor.

Where it tends to go wrong, is where people get carried away with the entire situation, and lose sight of the most important goals.

This is why, for example, Barry Goldwater was correctly refused leadership of the nation decades ago, after he infamously said "extremism in defense of liberty is no vice."

In reality, extremism in defense of liberty, puts an end to liberty every time.
