I went and looked just to be sure. I slipped, it is indeed a right. (Next time I'll double check rather than base it on memories from the late sixties).

Thats cool man!
We are still fighting to ensure all people have the right!
The 1965 Voting Rights Act was a start, as was the women rights to vote act.
Yet still some areas are disenfranchising voters! There is a current bill to make sure everyone has that right!

I still cant believe when I hear an American say they wont vote, but I cant see making them either!drinker

We used to have a government forced upon us, untill we fought to have representation of our own choosing!!

However before we hijack this thread any more the question at hand is the Australian elections. I must admit that I have not paid attention to the candidates. I have enough problems with mine here.

Sorry, back to topicdrinker

I dont have an opinion about who Australians should vote to lead them!
I dont have to live by their laws, and I am sure the Aussies know better than Americans what trials they face in everyday life!

That is an internal affair and it would be audacious for me to offer my opinion!

of course the essence is addressed in topic 52167

"We operate under a jury system in this country, and as much as we complain about it, we have to admit that we know of no better system, except possibly flipping a coin."

His reign has ended.

Australia has a new government...Australia has decided.

We have a Labor government..

*sigh*...I don't need a crystal ball to know where the election promises have gone to...grumble
