Topic: Sex bot creator wants to make baby... literally

Sex robot inventor Sergi Santos isn't just changing how men pleasure themselves - he's potentially changing society as we know it.

The Spanish scientist believes it's only a matter of time before human-and-robot marriage is commonplace, and he's even hatched a plan for how he can have a baby with his mechanical temptress Samantha.

Samantha is Santos' 100-pound sex robot that boasts eight different programs and the ability to make "realistic" orgasm sounds.

Santos told the Sun Online he believes that in the next couple of decades, we won't just be seeing these dolls hidden in a man's closet or under the bed - they'll be walking down the aisle to say "I do" to their human lovers.

Speaking from his home laboratory in Barcelona, he said: "People might look at Samantha as a weird thing you read about."

"But before they know it, these robots will be doing their jobs, and marrying their children, their grandchildren, and their friends."

"They need to remember that just a few years ago, mobile phones were seen as a non-essential item in society, but now we can't function without them."

And Santos claims he will soon be able to have a baby with Samantha.

He explained: "I can make them have a baby. It's not so difficult. I would love to have a child with a robot."

His plan involves using the "brain" he has created for Samantha but upgrading it so it is functioning at full capability.

Santos said: "Using the brain I have already created, I would program it with a genome so he or she could have moral values, plus concepts of beauty, justice and the values that humans have."

"Then to create a child with this robot, it would be extremely simple."

"I would make an algorithm of what I personally believe about these concepts, and then shuffle it with what she thinks and then 3D print it."

"That's it. I 3D print the robot that is the child of me and the robot ... I don't see any complications."

Santos has been with his wife, Maritsa Kissamitaki, for 16 years and she has no problem with his relationship with Samantha. Kissamitaki even helps Santos with the development of sex robot prototypes in his lab.

Santos has studied electronic engineering, nanotechnology, AI, material sciences and applied materials.

He was a well-respected expert in nanotechnology before going into sex robot production, even traveling to lecture at Yale.

He is aware that his plan to have a baby with his robot will raise some eyebrows, and give others cause for concern.

But when asked if these "hybrids," or even just robots with independent intelligence, could signal the end of humanity, Santos was quick to say that it wasn't a risk ... yet.

However, he believes robots will inherit the Earth in the distant future, and that humans won't even be given a second thought.

He added: "Most of humans don't care that there are no dinosaurs."

"In 60 million years, whatever is left on Earth will not care about us existing or not."

"They'll say, 'Oh, there were humans' - they won't give a crap ..."

"Who knows what will come after us?"

i woulnd't worry... i'm guessing women don't like those guys who would want one any way...if they did, then the guys wouldn't need a sex bot...unless it's a Lucy Liu bot...love

Thanks moe, that makes me feel better :)

It is an interesting article even though it seems a little far fetched.

It's scary to think could all be replaced by robots. Technology has already replaced some people in the work place, and now this. On one hand though, it could be ideal for those who just want a servant to be at his beck and call, and keeps her mouth shut. whoa I imagine that would eventually get old though.

you women should remember - as a species, men need women, women don't need men...i mean that from a procreation aspect only... if all the men disappeared, the human race could survive, with all the frozen sperm everywhere, if the women disappeared, it could not...

I suppose that's true, but don't they have women's eggs as well?
I thought I heard a while back that there was success with a test tube baby coming to term in an artificial womb?

Back to the article, I'm not understanding how exactly he plans to create a baby? Is it going to be a robot, hologram, or human? I don't get it?

Sex bot creator wants to make baby... literally...I 3D print the robot that is the child of me and the robot

Now you know the reason why toys were segregated by gender and little boys weren't allowed to play with Barbie and Easy Bake Ovens.

Good job, ladies, good job, hope getting to vote for Bush Jr., Obama, and Trump was worth it.

spock And exactly how is this our fault? whoa

Maybe if the toys weren't segregated by gender years ago, this man wouldn't be wanting to play with dolls in his adulthood.

Sounds like a midlife crisis of wanting what he was deprived of as a child. slaphead laugh

Wow! Kind of makes one feel a little obsolete.

Well, From what I read and have experienced first hand, many men have been feeling obsolete for many, many years. Many women say straight out, "They don't need a man". They just "want" one. The way it makes me think, it comes off like a person looking at a dog in a pet shop window. You don't need the dog. You just want it. So, in some men's eyes, it comes off that they are no better than a dog.

Not that I would want one of these "things". I prefer the human touch. But at the same time, I can understand how some men feel. When you are relegated to the dogs, I guess to some, AI is better than nothing. To me, the whole thing is sad. To my way of thinking, men & women are supposed to need each other. We don't anymore. If a woman wants a child, sperm bank or adopts alone. If she wants the pleasure of sex but doesn't want what comes attached to it, B.O.B.

Almost the same for a man. Men can get sex dolls with no head, arms or legs. They can get the handheld type. And now AI is at our doorstep. To me, it's scary. It's scary what we are coming too.

I hear what you're saying Charles and I agree, it is scary what we're coming to.

I also agree that we "need" each other. I believe over time the word "need" has some how become a dirty word. Like there's something wrong with needing each other.

A child needs it mother and father, a pet needs it's pet owner, an elderly person in a care facility needs care provided for them.

These are all things we consider acceptable, yet for some reason we don't want to accept that we need someone in our life to love and be loved by. Perhaps we think by saying so, that it means we will wither up and die without it. I don't know, and I don't know why it's so taboo.

I have heard people say that it sounds like you're desperate if you "need" a man or a woman. Well I'm not desperate, but yes, I do need a man. I need the kind of love and nurturing that only a man can provide.

Will I wither up and die if I remain alone...no! Will I go out and search one down...no! But I sure as hell will show the right one exactly how much I need him, if that right one ever shows up in my life.
