Just starting dating a guy (gay relationship) with cerebral palsey. he is in a wheelchair.

He wants to come to my house after our next date which involves 5 steps. I mean if this turns into a live in situation, I will definitely have to help him. As you can tell I am pretty strong looking, but his condition concerns me. He only weighs 130 ibs, 5'3. Any one know proper ways to lift and carry a person with this condition.

Hi Bri waving have you spoken to him about it . ?? There are different degrees of cerebral palsy ., it is best to establish what he is able to do for himself and what he needs assistance with . ...there are many videos on the internet which can guide you on safe techniques for both of you .. just google safe lifting techniques for cerebral palsy .

My advise as a nurse: Do not manually lift a person, it is too dangerous for both of you. There is many gadgets around, which should help, such as hoists.
