On a jog a few weeks ago, I tripped an fell, spraining one ankle. Hobbled a mile home... my dad came over and took me to the ER. Just a day ago, I fell again, spraining the other one, but not as badly.

Any one know if using crutches with a severe ankle sprain and a minor ankle sprain is a decent idea. I've been kinda half crawling lately.

What did the ER say? If there is swelling, ice it.

Years ago I fell on my arm and thought I sprained it. I went to a doctor a week later because it still hurt. It turned out that it was broken, so I had to get a cast.

Hi Mel

Sorry to hear about your injuries ..

Ideally you should seek advice from a physiotherapist . They will be able to assess your gait , range of movements and guide you in early gentle mobilisation exercises.

The ankle is such an important joint . Early mobilisation is often encouraged for sprains (see the price protocol ) however there are exceptions .

, your initial injury is a few weeks old .. how did you manage without crutches ???
if the severe sprain has not improved ask for a plain X-ray to rule out undetected injury . (The physiotherapist will be able to advise you if an X-ray or ultrasound is warranted .
Wish you a speedy recovery waving
