It'd be one very short story. Along with what blondie said (though not a bacon-eater, myself, as I prefer cheese sticks), we mostly think about how we can have less to think about.

Wait...... turtles? Never mind... too much to think about

Close Blondey, but no cigar!
Men are a diverse bunch, and some aren't interested in women at all. You'd like them.
We don't really need to think about boobs, just look at them, amazing, fascinating, diverse, nice, even little ones.
Once the sex, and beauty, and food, and mates, and drinking, and sport, and computer games, and vehicles, and toys is done for the time being, we can think about engineering, science, literature, culture and art, and highly technical stuff, while multitasking thinking about boobs and sex at the same time.
It's not rocket science, but then sex in space is another worthy thought.

P.S. turtles are cool, but I don't think about them.

A curvy girl in a turtle neck sweater, yes I would think.

I wish I could read mens minds.....Now that would be an awesome super power to have

Why do you think so?
What exactly do you think you'll "read?"
And what exactly would you do with whatever information you receive?

Also, how do you think it would "work?"

Do you think you'll be presented with just objective facts whose relevance is easily understood?

Or are you going to, say, see their memories, from their perspective, live through them as they did, without your own biases interfering with the experience?

Without living through their memories and experiences are you really going to understand their unfiltered thoughts, or really understand why those thoughts are the ones that make it to behavior or are hidden?

And, why just men's minds and not everyone's?

Also, why just one sided? Why not something like "I wish people could choose to read each others minds, but it had to be mutual and consensual, and once chosen nothing could be hidden."

You would probably end up kicking some men in their groins.

The 1990s American TV series Babylon 5 featured people who could read minds.
In one episode, a female mind-reader kicked a main male character in his groin after reading his mind.

She'd be arrested on the charge of assault.

In Babylon 5 it was the top cop who was kicked in the groin.

Engineering, science, etc. -I consider that playing and tinkering in the mental workshop. I figured the OP was referring to relationship stuff. I think most men who are thinking a whole lot in that regard are fairly communicative -and those who are not saying much probably aren't thinking much

What we think about... when we meet a person especially a female we size them up as god has wired us to procreate. There is a movie called “what women want” with Mel Gibson And a second movie “what men want” Not sure if the second one is correct. But as we get to know women our minds tend to think less about sex. Unless you are wearing something sexy. The longer you are around us the more we try to impress you. If we can’t impress you or get your attention or aren’t interested at all then we think about how we can achieve our goals. Whether it’s trying to get buff, or playing with our toys. We really just want to be appreciated for all the things we do. Compliment us and say thank you. If you want a man to do stuff for you reward his good behavior and he will continue to do so. Rewards are appreciation look him in the eyes and say something sincere and tell him how much you appreciate him. We are much like dogs just don’t neglect us or disrespect us. The quickest way to get on the outs is to demasculate a man. Once you have done that we are very less likely to respect you and very slow to forgive being disrespected.

I've seen a bunch of films and tv shows with mind reading in it, and most of them miss the mark of what real mind reading would be like (for the sake of telling the main story they want to get to).

One of the better ones I saw, was a now ancient episode of Twilight Zone, where a guy tosses a coin at the beginning, it lands on its edge and stays there, and as long as it stays on edge, he finds he can hear what anyone close to him is thinking. At one point, he hears a fellow employee of the bank they work in, going through the steps he will follow to abscond with a huge pile of cash, and turns the guy in, only to learn soon after, that the guy was just fantasizing for fun.

Believe it or not as you wish, I've actually heard other peoples thought on occasion. Just brief snippets, nothing interesting.

And most people are just like me inside their heads, their actual thoughts aren't all that coherent, and tend to jump from thing to thing very quickly. At least the parts that can be heard, do. I suspect that science will eventually discover that the reason why some "thoughts" can be "heard," and some not, is because the thoughts that can be "heard," are the ones intended to be spoken, but which are not voiced. Most thinking is more "holographic," in that most thinking includes a lot of overlays, smearing of time, rapid editing, and multi-path multi-subject activity, which the individual person's mind is able to understand, but which most strangers would only find cacophonous.

Good exercise in this area: observe your own thoughts some time, as you are doing some task. You'll most likely find that in addition to the fact that you aren't paying steady attention to JUST the task, that you're "subconscious" will often drop in other stuff, rather like pop up ads online, just because you also have other things you will have to deal with later.

Imagine reading your mates mind, and in the middle of a genuinely passionate kiss, their subconscious mind pops in to remind them they need to change the kitty litter as soon as they get home.

That's real world mind reading.
