I feel love has very little to do with success of a healthy relationship or marriage.

Women have a fundamental or even an basic need to feel safe. This need for security derives from early in human development and is the reason the human spices has been so successful in surviving and multiplying. If you you are a mother you know what I say is true. SO, a women by her very nature must pick a man that will ensure the safety of her and more impotently her children if this was not the case, we as a spices would be extinct. So a women can not, at any level (Unless she is Psyhco)love a man that does not satisfy her basic need for security, safety and protection. In man's earlier history it was the strongest man, today the man with money is perceived to be the best choice.

So if a women feels safe, she feels love and as a bonus if here choice is a good lover, a good man, a kind soul, ect.... then that love is straightened by his good virtues.....

My mom use to say, "No women can love a man that she does not respect." How could she it goes against everything she is....She all so used to say, "If mama is not happy no body is happy." Any man that understand this always seem to have a long and healthy relationship..

So...what do men want then??

If you made me safe, I would bet I could give you what you really want.

BTW - I used to have a saying - I dont want to be in love, I want to be in trust.
