I don't drink that often (maybe once or twice a year) but when I do, it does change me a little. I have the gift to gab, and when I drink, I talk ALOT and fast. I say stupid stuff too, but I'm talking so much and so fast, it gets passed by easily because everyone has a hard time keeping up with my conversations.(I guess that's a good thing, for me anyway)

In the case of someone like me who doesn't drink often I think there is def. a personality change. I feel less self conscious and more free to just be me. Others have told me they don't really notice much of an outside change, so it's more something I feel rather than portray. The one man I dated for several months after my divorce did tell me it makes me the aggressor in bed too, of which he appreciated...haha.
In the case of a chronic drinker, I think they are affected in such a way that it just eventually becomes them. I.E. they become a butthole, a mean drunk or someone who needs to push reality away. The booze just sort of turns them into someone else. I can see where it would be so hard to get back from that, considering your life then is centered around the alcohol and how you need it to feel like you are yourself. Not sure that came out like I wanted it too, but hopefully you get what I am saying. |
