Savory Egg Bake

Buy the Schwan's® Ingredients
Ingredients
3 pieces Five Cheese Garlic French Bread (#597), thawed & diced into 1" cubes
Buy this ingredient

5 large eggs
1 1/2 cups half & half
1 tsp. dried basil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup yellow onion, diced
1/2 cup red pepper, thinly diced
6 strips Fully Cooked Bacon Slices (#811), prepared & crumbled
Buy this ingredient

1 tsp. Dijon mustard
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Steps
The night before:

1. Arrange bread in greased 13"x 9"x 2" glass baking dish (2 qt.). In bowl, whisk together eggs, half and half, basil, mustard and salt; pour over bread.

2. Heat oil in sauté pan; add onions and peppers. Sauté over medium heat 3-4 minutes. Distribute onions and peppers over egg dish; top with crumbled bacon. Cover egg dish with plastic wrap; refrigerate overnight.

In the morning:

1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Remove egg dish from refrigerator; set aside for 15 minutes.

2. Remove plastic wrap and cover egg dish with aluminum foil. Bake 30 minutes.

3. Uncover and sprinkle with Cheddar cheese. Continue baking, uncovered, 10-15 minutes or until center is firm. Let cook 5 minutes before serving.
