In reading Tarot cards, I tell people that I can't see the future in the cards because the fact is, the future does not exist.

Neither does the past actually exist.

So why do I lay out the cards in positions Past, present, future?

Because the cards are reading the energy of the event. An event unfolds in a linear fashion by way of cause and effect.

When I read the cards sometimes they tell a story, or at least the energy of the story. The outcome card is the energy of the possible or probable outcome of the event.

When you watch a movie you can sometimes get a feeling for the events unfolding within the story and many times the outcome is very predictable.

It is the same way with reading the energy of the events the tarot cards point to.

So to get to the title of my post: The Event Horizon. Is that the beginning of the event or the end of the event?

I say it is the beginning of it.(But where there is an end, there is another beginning so it may well be both.) It is the force in action that creates the event. In a person's life, they are the event horizon because they are the force in action creating the events of their lives and creating their thoughts, their reality and their very future.

So why even get a tarot card reading? I rarely read the cards for my own personal life because I know that the future is mine to direct. Most people don't know that, so they need someone else to show them what they are creating and remind them what might happen if the momentum of the event they have created continues.

You can change the future and alter the outcome, but few people will do that. They prefer to think that life just "happens" to them. "Sh*t Happens" they say.

Rich People Believe "I Create My Life" - Poor People Believe “Life Happens To Me."

My goal in doing Tarot card readings is to help people realize that they have the power to write their own future.

1. The knight of swords energy is energy of a person who wants to save or help others or fight for some cause. He/she rescues the damsel in distress.

2. The Five of wands is competition; sometimes with your better judgement. It could mean that you are having one of those bad days where you just got up on the wrong side of the bed.

3. The Dark Priestess is a warning that there is a spy in your circle who does not have your best interest at heart and has an agenda of her own. She serves a different master, not to be completely trusted.

4. The High Priestess is giving advice.. to listen to your inner voice and use your intuition.

5. The queen of swords, gets to the point. (no pun intended LOL) She listens to reason and her own authority.

Those are the general meanings and energies of the cards. Depending on who the reading is for, the "story" or "event" could be many different things.

An overview tells me that the subject is a woman who has a tendency to try to save or fix others and because of this tendancy, she gets taken advantage of and may put herself in a vulnerable position, but the outcome Queen of Swords, indicates that she is both strong in heart, reason and paired with the High priestess ..intuition.

I am going to assume that the reading is about me and my current energy.

So what is the event?

The present condition is one of confusion, competition, (information overload) and on what to do, inspired by the desire to help others. The unknown factor is a person lurking who wants something from me. The advice is just for me to listen to my inner voice or higher self. The outcome is practical, businesslike and and clearly a woman who acts in her own authority.

That is a reading about and for me.

I think that's a very honorable goal.

So why even get a tarot card reading? I rarely read the cards for my own personal life because I know that the future is mine to direct. I have an entirely different view of tarot.

This is not meant to imply that your view is incorrect in any way. I think tarot has many uses for many people and those uses are valid for their purposes.

Ironically though, my view and use of tarot differs radically from your view in that I would not even be interested in having someone else read my cards for me. Because of the way that I view tarot they would only be meaningful if I read them for myself.

Similarly, I would not attempt to read the cards for another person. Although I could potentially help them to read the cards for themselves.

I too do not view the cards as representing past or future, but rather they are symbols in the now. And in being symbols they generatate thoughts. Thoughts are the stuff of life.

I've been keeping several journals for various aspects of my life. I use a seperate and distinct tarot deck with each journal. I find them to be very helpful, enlightening, and seeds for creativity.

Like you, I don't need tarot to make decisions. I'm quite capable of making my decisions on my own. None the less, I find the tarot cards quite inspiring on many levels. Even moreso lately since I have begun studying Cetlic Qabalah which is also linked to the 22 major Arcana of Tarot.

I've been seeking new Tarot decks specifically for use with the Celtic Qabalah. I looked into the Merlin Deck which is actually used in the book I'm currently reading on the Celtic Qabalah, but there are things about the Merlin Deck I'm not pleased with.

I like the cards that you've designed.

When is your deck coming out? I'm sure I'd like to purchase one.

Very interesting. I've read Runes before but have not studied tarot.

We finally finished the last card, --the King of Wands, after designing and rejecting about five of them. Then we changed and replaced a few cards we decided did not measure up, and we are currently tweeking the rest of the deck

When that is done we will print and laminate some prototype decks, and get them copyright protected. Darla will start writing the book and I am working on the website right now.

I like reading for others because reading just for myself gets real boring. (I get the same energy and cards a lot... not much new happening in my life most of the time LOL.)

Not me. I hate boring.

Don't misunderstand, my life is very interesting ~~~ to me. But in reading my own cards.. well there is just nothing there that would make an interesting novel. LOL.

I would agree with that. I don't like drama in my own life. I like to read about it in others lives though. It makes for a more interesting story.

But you are right... hate the drama with it attaches itself into my life.
