I was hanging a picture in our living room, when I hit my thumb with the hammer.
As I am cussing ( under my breath ) my daughter Danielle ( then 6 ) came strolling into the living room, looked at me and said... " Did that hurt?? " I looked at her for a second..and replied " Yes. It did. " My daughter, the light of my life, looked me dead in the eye and said... " Well don't DO that. " Then turned and walked out of the room. |

Danielle ( around the age of four ) was seemingly very quiet one day.
From out of nowhere, I hear the sound of the toilet flushing, our cat yowling, and Danielle laughing uproariously. I stroll into the bathroom to see what, exactly, she was up to. I see the cat in the toilet, and Danielle with her hand on the flush lever. I ask her " Danielle. What are you doing? " She said " Giving kitty a bath. " " Ok. Why are you giving kitty a bath? " " Cuz he needs one. " I sigh heavily, pull the cat out of the toilet and realize that what used to be a black and white cat is now black, white, green, red, and yellow. I looked at Danielle and asked " Danielle. Why is the cat different colors than he used to be? " She replied " Cuz I made him pretty. " " How did you make the cat pretty? " " With the paints. " " Where did you get the paints? " " From the kitchen. " I go out to the kitchen, carrying one pissed off cat wrapped in a towel and I see that my daughter, the light of my life, has decided to " paint " the cat with her mother's food coloring. So...I clean up the mess and tell her that her mom was gonna be pretty mad at her... But I couldn't get mad at her. Mainly because I MADE her that way. |

My son is Autistic and they are really literal- so when he was about 5 we were leaving daycare to go home and I told him to say goodbye to your friends
sooooo of course he says "Goodbye to your friends!!!" and waved. It was so cute. Now he hands me the remote when he does not like the show on tv and says "Mom, would you be so kind as to change the movie?" I don't know how he became so formal

When my son was in Kindergarten, he was running late one day and I told him to hurry up, shake a leg and get moving out the door. He stopped walking, shook his leg, and then asked how shaking his leg was going to help him get to school on time.
When my daughter was little, my brother told her to smile. She started sniffing around and then announced "I smell like a dog." |

I'm a pretty sarcastic person, and my 4 year old is a lot like me. We were in the car earlier, and her 3 year old sister looked at her and said "Kaiya, I love you." and Kaiya turned back to her and said "Kyara, I love lamp"
HAHAHA oooh geeez |

I was an established teacher for several years before my kids arrived. On day I was bringing my first born, 2 years old, to day care on the way to my teaching job. I always tried to push the learning envelope with my kids, but I was not prepared for what a two year old could understand:
My son Max asked, pointing at passing road signs "what are those" I explained they were signs, and signs give us messages. He asked "what messages", so I explained speed limit... and so on as best I could in age two terms. Finally we arrived at a stop sign. He asked "what is that sign?". "A stop sign" I said. "What is that?" I thought for a second and responded, "it means the car must not move for a short time". 2 weeks later, I was running late and rolled through the same stop sign, Max quickly said "Dad, you didn't stop." Oh my, I thought! What a fertile sponge of a brain these kids have!!!!

My grandchildren went trick or treating Sat. and the 3 year olds mother said I'll probably have to carry you and it will break my arm. My grandson replied, " It's okay mommy, we can get you a new one. lol
