Knowing My Place

It welled up
from that place
the rains fell
and my knees
up to my knees.
Her confidence
stands out as strongly
as the fury coming from her
place.
Place, is it home?
I do not need a man
she says. You do not need
a man,
as she walks through her door
and fixes him dinner.
Alone, the two,
in the corner talking,
whispering the day's events.
No she does not need.
She does not know my..
place. It does not feel
like my home, either.
The rains still fall.
On my knees,
up to my knees.
