I just searched on google using dating sites. Mingle was on page three, while okcupid was on page two. Emily,I just did the same thing. You are correct. be seeing you
search for "free online dating". Yes, but if you change it a little and search for "free dating sites" both okcupid and plentyoffish come first. So, it depends on how you search. |

I agree. Now we will all be pushed to the bottom and others will get there profiles viewed before ours. Recipe for disaster!

QUOTE: I agree. Now we will all be pushed to the bottom and others will get there profiles viewed before ours. Recipe for disaster! That isn't being implied so far, but it is a concern of mine. I don't think anyone will be pushed to the bottom, much less do I care if my profile gets viewed more than others...sorry, but my success rate with this site is horrid and I don't see it improving if I can get my profile glued everywhere on the site. My point is the business direction, I think more resources have been used pushing the upgrade out than they will see in return. There just isn't any motivation to upgrade, it doesn't offer much and for what it does offer there is minimal chance at best for success. I also fail to see how it will increase my chances of meeting someone by 300%, if I could get the total number of male/female users I could come up with a better equation. At this point I would figure your chances would increase incrementally at probably a 5-10% chance increase, 300% is a really far-fetched number. |

Optional or not once you create a feature that will help the ones choosing and paying for it and not others it will create two different users categories, the ones with the advantage of being on top of the search list and the others who do not pay to be after (two class of users).

Search results on Google can vary from time to time, I just searched
'free online dating' and after sponsored ads, Mingle2 was first, then OKCupid and POF. Having the 'upgrade' membership would be just like the sponsored ad on Google, my profile or 'ad' if you will, would be one of the first to come up. For my geographic location it doesn't really matter, too few members in my age group. And business is business. Thanks for keeping the free stuff going!!! Of the 34 men aged 40-50 in the area, only 12 have been seen in the last month. So the pickins' a bit better for the women.

This is first version of MinglePlus. There are already enhancements underway all designed to do one thing: help people connect. We feel there is a lot of room for improvement in the online dating space and we're excited about creating new fun and interesting ways for people to connect.

How is that off topic? Class has nothing to do with categories...

I think its totally correct and good for people who choose to support the company by purchasing a MinglePlus subscription to get something extra.
It's umm $10.00, not $1000.00... anyone can get this. I get cable, but I have to pay for HBO and Showtime. I don't complain about not getting it free... |

I agree Van, nothing wrong with it.. For some it may be worth it.. For me not so much but I'm thankful for the fact that we can still use the site just like we were.. I really don't care if my profile pops up anywhere...

Sure, my only point is the "extras" really aren't all that much, and further it doesn't guarantee anything by 300% (by the way, mathmatically, that would signify someone has 100% success, quality-wise it would thus triple the 100%). If you are going to add features to the pay version, by all means go ahead, but don't shaft the very people that got this site to where it is. If you are going to add features for a pay-version, then why not add features people would actually pay for? Yes, it is only $10.00, but that is $10.00 I or anyone else would want to spend to actually gain something. I don't see how having a profile pasted all over a website is gaining anything, much less increasing chances by 300%. Don't forget the free-version of the site, but at the same time add leverage to the pay-version, incentive more or less. As it stands now there is not logical incentive to pay for the service, those that pay stand to gain just as much as if they had not paid. We already know from the years this site has been up that not much really comes out of a profile being leveraged where people can see it, this isn't a feature that comes from solely paying for the site, we all have enjoyed this feature for free and not much success has come from it in the past. Add special member titles (ala, phpbb), or an expanded directory to the pay version. Add something that someone would actually be willing to pay for, and in the long-run support upgrading. Let's face it, there isn't much to upgrade with having a profile show up everywhere, which means in the long-run there isn't much incentive to pay for the service. I like Mingle, and I understand more or less the incentive to having a pay version seeing as we are in fact a free site it would take money from somewhere to pay for the site. I want to see this site grow and take on new things just as much as I'm sure the admin do, I just think it could have been planned out in greater detail and encompass many more things. |

Considering that I have been here for a couple of years, and I have had maybe 100 profile views TOTAL in those two years...and to get 3/4 of those views I had to put up a picture of a teddy bear in bondage as my main picture.... I'm not all that concerned with my profile being pushed to the bottom. It's pretty much there already. lol |

As I stated before, MinglePlus will continue improve over time.
We are happy with the first version, but have many new things planned and are excited about offering a new level of service for those who want it. I'm closing this topic now. |
