Looking forward to my vacation this coming weekend. I meet my brother in the U.P. and we stay in an old hunting camp that has been in my family for about 80 years. No electricity, no running water, no phone, and no cell phone reception. We hunt grouse or partridge, which is like a wild chicken, but tastes better.

Wow, I will have to send my son to you sometime. He is always looking for new places to hunt.

it's dove season out here
I never got my license this year. I had had surgery on my right arm and it wasn't far enough along to be able to shoot and now the season almost over so its not worth the money

My Dad used to have a couple good rabbit dogs that were great at kicking up grouse out on our farm. Them SOB's are hard to shoot. They are quite crafty..........

We got the celebrity vote with Ted Nugent speaking out for it. But the anti-hunting groups came in and killed it. My guess is, there were some payoffs in the Michigan Congress. Just like anything, done conservatively, it could have worked. And probably brought in hunters and money from nearby states. |

There are a LOT of women hunters in Michigan. And a few in the forums.

What did that little tiny bird do to you
-- that you would shoot it?
Did he carjack you? Burglarize your house? Steal your girlfriend? Slash your tires? Pick on someone your own size and then give it a gun too!
His poor little grouse wife and kids will be so sad that he was shot going to work! How sad! "Mommy, where's daddy?"

All of the above. And they are so damn tasty! I don't want to get into the whole hunting/anti-hunting argument, BUT... I will say, those birds are SO difficult to hunt. They really have more of a sporting chance than most other animals. |

I do a lot of animal rescue, including wildlife left for dead after being shot but not dying. It horrifies me.
Have a blast with your family. The cabin sounds really historic!

Cool. I love animals - I foster dogs from our local animal shelter. And I don't hunt anything, unless I'm going to eat it. And deer hunting IS a necessity, in Michigan, due to massive overpopulation. I don't expect all people to enjoy or agree with hunting, but sometimes, we have to be realistic. Thank you for not hi-jacking my thread and turning it into an Anti-Hunting argument. This weekend is really more about getting together with family and enjoying the outdoors. |

I don't argue about hunting anyway. I am not fully aware of all the aspects and I don't like to debate when I am not fully "abreast" of the issues!
You boys are going to pee in the woods, hunt, drink, and have a ball! Just don't combine any of the activities and shoot yourselves IN the balls!

I'd rather see someone hunting and utilizing the meat than watching a poor animal get hit by a car. I saw that today on my way home, a deer got waffled. I miss wild game, my ex was a hunter. My brother hunts but hasn't learned to share with anyone.
